In addition, the tape had deteriorated. If we used it, the result would have been unacceptably noisy (can you hear the flames on R.A.A. about that?). Thus, we are only doing what the original sound engineers would have done faced with the same situation -- we are redoing it to be as close as possible to the original. At the same time, we have an opportunity to use some of the latest sound technology to upgrade the sound effects, so that, for example, a gunshot is properly placed in 3D space. It would be stupid not to do so (in fact, given todays SFX generation systems, almost more difficult). The Urusei Yatsura release schedule is as follows at this time: * A single UY tape is released each month. Currently, Movies 1- TV episode volumes 1-10, and OVA volumes 1-7 are available. Also, the first volume of the Tenchi LDs reportedly has the audio levels of the analog (japanese) track all over the place, so buyer beware. Pioneer will not sell their LDs to outside US customers, so you will have to find someone to buy the disk and send it to you (or alternatively, buy the japanese release of the bilingual disk).
