Akemi Takada Notes This very popular artist is known for her water washed pastel pictures. She is responsible for most of the fabulous pictures featured on the covers of Creamy Mami, Orange Road, Twilight Q and Patlabor. Akemi was born on March 31, 1956, in Tokyo. She went to the University to study architectural design but she was more interested in artistic drawing. For her college term project, she created what 1s known as "Space Ninja Team Gatachaman". Well, this ambitious project shot her into stardom as it was produced into a TV series. Her artwork emphasizes style, fashion and better looks. As a matter of fact, several of the Orange Road pictures she has drawn were done by simply looking in a fashion magazine and redrawing the figure with her characters modeling the clothes. She has an older brother who is in Dentistry and a younger sister who is also in artist work. She has done much artwork for many shows and movies. She had done some of the late design on the Maison Ikkoku series. She has also drawn many of the video covers for Urusei Yatsura. The Maison Ikkoku opening theme song changed again at episode 53. In Orange Road, the opening sequence is a complicated mix of images. In a standard 90 minute movie, there are about 250 scene changes. This opening tries to produce the same effect in a 30 minute episode.
