Anime Park Supplement Part 1 by Peter Kaminsky --- The supplement section to Anime Park will have to do with the various characters, places, items, and other interesting things that go on in the story. It could help to read this before reading the corresponding part of Anime Park, but, you do what you like. :) I drop some hints about what'll happen in the next episode (or two)... so if you're really into Anime Park look hard... --- **Items o Virtual Reality War Machine -- Where the principles for the TS were developed. Although it isn't explained in the text, the VRWM is something like the Virtuality systems that you see floating around the U.S., crossed with one of the many Battletech Centers around the world. A person could be a soldier in the VRWM, or drive a vehicle in it. The purpose of it was to simulate a typical battle environment so that there could be training at a much lower cost, and to test out new strategies for battle. o ThoughtSynthesizer -- The ThoughtSynthesizer (abbreviated, 'TS') is a complex system of hardware and software that can download the thoughts from a brain, form them into a real, living thing, and then create that thing. The TS was originally a modified VRWM, but one that downloaded thoughts and abilities from a person using it so that a formidable opponent could be made. Takahara improved on his already good creation to take an image of a brain, accurate down to the smallest detail, and extract all the needed information from it. Of course, the only way to do this properly was to have the creator of those thoughts (such as Takahashi Rumiko for the gang from Ranma 1/2) in the TS. (The way that Takahara did it was to read a whole bunch of information about each character, watch lots of examples of the character's behavior, and use those combined thoughts. The characters came out with no *visible* flaws... hint hint! ;) The TS then forms the DNA for that type of thing, forms an 'empty shell' (i.e. a person/creature with no thoughts), injects it with some thoughts and/or memories (i.e. a outgoing personality and thoughts for C-ko; an evil, twisted mind for someone like Largo), and releases it into the community. This does not mean that if you synthesize a person that has the ability to wish at will that they'll be able to do it! Synthesized creations cannot alter reality! Additions are made to the body structure (such as super-fast speed for anyone that plans to be doing a Tenshin Amaguriken), or things are added on so that they can alter some of the surrounding factors (like the Hiryuu Shoutenha; add-ons would be attached that would let Ranma do that technique). (Don't ask me *how* it happens, though; as far as I can tell it's magic... ;) o DeRez Unit -- Breaks down a synthesized being into atomic particles that can be reused over... and over... and over... The DeRez unit has never been tested on an UNSYNTHESIZED being! (hint hint! ;) o Construct VR -- All the constructs (that is, the minds of the synthesized things) run around in a VR tailored for them when not in use. If they won't be in use for a while, the constructs are SHUT DOWN. Shutting Down is the constant fear of every non-human on the island. Shutting Down is likened to death. Minds of synthesized beings enter the VR when they are removed from their bodies by the ThoughtSynthesizer. The above programs can be controlled by a really powerful Mac (a Quadra 950) or a Pentium-based PC, but for high-intensity use, a Cray wouldn't be a bad choice. **Places o OtakuCon -- Is there really an OtakuCon? I have no idea, because I made it up for the story. o Maboroshi Island -- The Dream Island. Anime Park is located here (of course ). Maboroshi Island had two docks, and a helipad. The helipad is located on the west side of the island, right next to the main dock. The emergency/utility dock is on the east end of the island. The headquarters/ lodging area/restaurant/etc. is in the big mountain by the main dock. Of course, the good part is that you can stay anywhere you want on the island; The money of the island is accepted in every shop, hotel, restaurant... everywhere. o Anime Park -- A miniature world, with characters from anime running around on/in it. Anime Park is rumored to be split into four or more parts, one of them being modern-day Toukyou. This zone (Zone 1) is shared by the characters from Ranma 1/2, Kimagure Orange Road, and Sailor Moon. (More are rumored to exist.) This means that they can and will run into each other. No synthesized person has ever left Zone 1 due to security measures. (And since the characters in the story only know of Zone 1 right now, so do you. ;P) (Ok, there's a Wasteland Zone. But that's all I'm gonna say.) **Characters /---The Evaluators---\ o Drew Merchant -- The rich otaku. Buys huge amounts of CDs, t-shirts, LDs, etc.; considers it to be a big waste of money. o Tricia Seward -- The AnimEigo representative at OtakuCon. As much as an otaku as Drew is, but she works for an anime company. o John Davidson -- Columnist for...? An even bigger pervert that Happousai. (Don't believe me? Watch for Part 3!) o Vince McHarley -- In charge of all the Ranma 1/2 things that Viz is doing. Gets scared at the slightest things. /---The Suits---\ o Dave Takahara -- Creator of Anime Park, and the technology that goes with it. o Mark Collins -- Dave's close friend; In charge of making contracts, etc. with various companies. o Yoshi Nakasone -- In charge of the Anime Park corporate business. /---Others---\ [The following may refer to *one* or *two* people!] <--- Big Mystery! :) o Davis -- Person who has agreed to help Macek steal anime characters from the AP computers. Could his first name be Akira??? (<--- Big Mystery! :) o Akira Davis -- Hacker in charge of running the Anime Park computer network. Obsessed with the workings of the network, and computers in general. Could he be the one stealing the files to sell to Macek? (Yep, another Big Mystery! :) Keep watching for the answers!) o Carl Macek -- The Demon of Dubbing, the Robotech Rapist, etc. Paying big bucks to get live anime characters. --- And there you have it. The characters will be updated at every new part, but some of the items and places may be deleted from the list. --- Got some flames, kudos, comments, etc.?
