_________________________________________________________________ The CD Ichiba FAQ_________________________________________________________________ Contents 1. What is CD Ichiba ? 2. What can I buy, trade or sell through CD Ichiba ? 3. Where can I get the latest issue and back issues ? 4. How can I advertise in CD Ichiba ? _________________________________________________________________ CD Ichiba ( CD Market ) is a buy, trade, and sell magazine produced for the Jpop mailing list. Basically it provides a consolidated place for trading Japanese music, anime and manga, infact CD Ichiba is likely to trade in almost anything related to Japan. Late 1993 I bought a Jpop CD by a group I had never heard of while I was in Sydney. Well it turned out that I didn't like the group and was stuck with an expensive disc that would never get listened to. Unlucky - huh ? It was around this time that I figured that others out there must have done the samething -snapped up adisk becaue itwas there and looked OK, only to find that it wasn't exactly what they were looking for. Wouldn't itbe a gooddea to try to sell or trade the disks you don't listen to for another disk ? This is how CD Ichiba was born. _________________________________________________________________ What can I buy, trade or sell through CD Ichiba ? _________________________________________________________________ While CD Ichiba started out as a place to trade Jpop CDs I figured thatmostJpop fans have a passing interest in almost nything related to Japan such as aime, mang,an the Japanese langage. So to caer for thisCD Ichbaexpanded to include the rade of all things Jpop, anime, manga or Japanese related. Relevant items mayinclude : * CD's, records and cassetes * Videos and lasr discs * Magazines, posters and calendars * Anything related to Jpop, anime, manga or Japan in general Where can I get the latest issue and back issues ? _________________________________________________________________ Via Th World Wde Web : If you've got Mosaic or whatever and can access the WEB you can get CD Ichiba fromy Home Page at the following address :http://www.its.ewnham. ua.edu.au/bonsai/ My home page basically reflects my interest in Jpop, anime, and manga so take a good look around and let me know what you think. Please be sure that you include all relevant information such as your e-mail address (so buyers can contact you), artist, title, format (i.e. CD, Video, LD etc.) and an asking price if required. Another way to advertise is to e-mail me a "Display Advertisement". _________________________________________________________________ What is a Display Advertisement ? _________________________________________________________________ If you really want to grab our readers attention you need a really flashy avertisement. So for those of you who want to invest the time to crate a btter looking advert by including borders andASCII pictures etc can designyour own and e-mail it t me for inclusion in the nx issue. In order to stop you from goingreally sick and sending a 50 line advertfor twodiscs there re a few simplerule that I'dlike you to follow. Firstly your advert should be no morethat 80 characters wide and I'd like you to limit its length to - the number of items for sale/trade+ 15 lns. So lt your artistc tlents un wild. The best ASCII adverts will be placed first in each issue. _________________________________________________________________ There's an item I'd like. What do I do now ? _________________________________________________________________ If youfind something in CDIchiba you'dlike to buyor trade for hen simplye-mailthe advertiserand work outsme kind of deal. CD Ichiba FAQ (p10Read thesetioenttled "What's stopping the other guy from ripping me off ?" below for tips on how to carry out a "reduced risk" trade. _________________________________________________________________ There's an item I'd likebut Idon't haveanythingworthwhile o trade. _________________________________________________________________ Most traders post a list of items they would like in exchange for wat they are trading. But just because you don't have anything on their list doesn't mean that you automatically can't carry out a deal. Many traders are willing to listen to any reasonable offer. So go ahead and make them an offer they can only refuse. _________________________________________________________________ What'sthe buyers only ection ? _________________________________________________________________ CD Ichib is ssentiallya place to sell or trade items you no longer want. But in a few instances you may have exhausted all avenues when persuing an item you really want to get your hands on. For just such an occasion CD Ichiba includes a "Buyers Only" section where you can ask readers if they'd be willing to sell or trade what you are after. I don't want this section blowing out bend all proportion so I reseve the right to icludeas mny or few "Buyers Only" advertisements perissue as I deem appropriate. _________________________________________________________________ What's stopping the other guy from ripping me off ? _________________________________________________________________ OK, so you want to trade with someone listed in CD Ichiba, whats preventing th prson you are trading with from rippingoff ? Hopefullytheir conscience will.Thewhole system is based on honesty,I'd like tothink tht we ar all honest adults but udubtedlythere s someone outther just waiting toscrewthe whole system up. Please read the Disclaimer at the end of this document. More specificallyplease read Disclaimer No. 2 attheend f this document. Here are a few suggestions on how to carry out a 'reduced risk' trade : * Decide via initial e-mail contact if you really want to trust the peron on the other end of thedeal. (Tough call) Try to work out a deal you both agree on before parting with any cash or goods. * One of the best ways to ensure you get what you paid/traded for ist send gods COD(Cash On Delivery) wherever possible. COD works likthi : + Youpay the Post Office (PO) to send your goods to the PO nearest the person you are sending them to. + The receiving PO posts a letter to the person you are trading with to tell them there are goods to the value of $##.## waiting tobe pickedup. + The PO wll release the goods only after payment has been madeandwill syou a chque. If te goods are not picked up after a predtermined period they will be returned to thesender by the PO. * Charges for CODvary but it is undoubtedly one of the safest waysto trade since the PO is an impartial party in the wholetransaction. * If trading multipl gods send thm oeat aime as a series ofsmall trades rather than in one batch. That way if you get stungit's only for one item. * If someone takes you downlet meknow and I'll ensure that theirname does not appear in CD Ichiba in the future. Any furtherideasto prevent being ripped offgreatlyappreciated. Please Mail them to m. _________________________________________________________________ What Curency are the pricegiven in ? _________________________________________________________________ All prices given in CD Ichiba will, I assume, be given in the currency of advertisers country unless specifically stated otherwise. If trading with someone from another country be sure that both agree on a price in an agreed currency before parting with any money or goods. _________________________________________________________________ What Format are the videos etc. ? _________________________________________________________________ Don't ask me, I don't know. Just be aware that different coutries adhere to different video recording standards which may not be compatible with your own. _________________________________________________________________ Disclaimer _________________________________________________________________ DISCLAIMER No. 1 : I'm no lawyer.
