This week I have both. /////////////\ ////\\\\\//// /This issue we have 7 people with music to //// / //// /sell or trade. I've also included a bit of /// / info. about creating better case liners for //// \\\\\\\\\/ cassettes and CD's along with updating some //// / of the info. contained in the last issue. //// / \\\\/ Apparently there were some successful trades carried out after the last issue. Lets hope you find something useful in Issue 2. ============================================================================ This Issues Selection ============================================================================ Ok, here's this issues selection. Hopefully their conscience will. The whole system is based on honesty, I'd like to think that we are all honest adults but undoubtedly there is someone out there just waiting to screw the whole system up. Please read the Disclaimer at the end of this document. More specifically please read Disclaimer No. 2 at the end of this document. Here are a few suggestions on how to carry out a 'reduced risk' trade : - Decide via initial e-mail contact if you really want to trust the person on the other end of the deal. (Tough call) Try to work outa deal you both agree on before parting with any cash or goods. CD Ichiba Issue 2 (p10 - One of the best ways to ensure you get what you paid/traded for is to send goods COD (Cash On Delivery) wherever possible. COD works like this :You pay the post office (PO) to send your goods to the PO nearest the person you are sending them to. The receiving PO posts a letter to the person you are trading with to tell them there are goods to the value of $##.## waiting to be picked up. The PO will release the goods only after payment has been made and will send you a cheque. If the goods are not picked up after a predetermined period they will be returned to the sender by the PO. Charges for COD vary but it is undoubtedly one of the safest ways to trade since the PO is an impartial party in the whole transaction. If trading multiple goods send them one at a time as a series of small trades rather than in one batch. That way if you get stungit's only for one item.- If someone takes you down let me know and I'll ensure that their name does not appear in CD Ichiba in the future. Any further ideas to prevent being ripped off greatly appreciated. Please Mail them to me. ============================================================================ Creating Jewel Box and Casette Case Liners ============================================================================ Well, I bought myself a new car recently, one with a decent stereo. OK not decent enough to include a CD player (But I'm working on it) as a result I've spent a lot of time copying CD's to tape. Now I'll be the first to admit that my handwriting really sucks so I checked out a few FTP sites for programs to produce cassette labels and came up with the following : Case Maker 1.00 David Nieves casemakr.zip Req. Windows 3.1 Case Liner 3.90 Ed Adasiewicz caslnr39.zip Req. Windows 3.1 CD Label 1.00 Gene Toye cdlab100.zip Req. Windows 3.1 I've been using Case Maker 1.00 which allows printing on the back-flap, spine, outer and inner cover using any available font. Using this program I can fit about 16 titles per side which is quite enough in most cases. I don't really have a need for CD Jewel Box labels but who knows when your dog/kid or whatever will decide to ruin your favourite lyric book? You can FTP these programs from the following sites (pick one nearest you): NORTH AMERICA wuarchive.wustl.edu [128.252.135.4] in mirrors2/win3 grind.isca.uiowa.edu [128.255.19.233] in msdos/win3 gatekeeper.dec.com [16.1.0.2] in /.2/micro/msdos/win3 OTHERS vmsa.technion.ac.il [132.68.7.2] (Israel Institute of Technology) nic.switch.ch [130.59.1.40] (Switzerland) ftp.cc.monash.edu.au [130.194.1.106] (Monash Univ, Melbourne Australia) nctuccca.edu.tw [140.111.3.21] (Chiao Tung Univ, Hsinchu, Taiwan) src.doc.ic.ac.uk [146.169.2.1] (JANET mirror at Imperial College, London) You'll find the programs in whatever/whatever/win3/misc. You may also need to FTP vbrun200.dll and copy it to your windows\system subdirectory. Anyone know of casette/CD label programs for other platforms? Let me know. ============================================================================ Contributing to CD Ichiba ============================================================================ CD Ichiba can only continue to be an effective buy/trade/sell magazine if there are people out there with items they are willing to trade therefore if you have anything at all JPop related to sell of trade why not e-mail me (Byron.Kidd@its.utas.edu.au) and I'll include it in the next Issue. Relevant items may include : CD'sVideosPosters Records Magazines Calendars CassettesLaser Disks Anything JPop related Also, I included a short section on cassette labeling programs in this issue because I found it useful and thought others might too. So, If you have any other bits of information such as this which you think others may be interested in send it to me and I'll see that it's included in the next issue. Oh yeah, if you make any successful trades can you notify me before the next issue comes out so I can remove those items from your list? That way you don't keep getting mail to trade stuff you don't have any more. ============================================================================ CLOSING WORDS ============================================================================ Well, thats about it for Issue 2. I'd still like to make CD Ichiba THE place to trade Japanese music and related items on the net so keep those lists comming. Again thanks to this issues traders, without people to trade CD Ichiba would not be. Thanks. It doesn't look like anyone with any kind of legal knowledge is going to write me a disclaimer so I've included my lame attempt at the end of this issue again, suffice to say if you get ripped off by another trader - have it out with them not me :) Feedback, comments, like it, don't like it, let me know there's always room for improvement. 6Good luck in your search.
