////////////////// /CD ICHIBA \\\\\\\////\\\\\\\/-------------------------------------------- //// ///// / ///\ //// / Welcome to the first issue of "CD Ichiba" a /////////// /Japanese music buy/trade/sell magazine for /////////// / the J-Pop mailing list. \\\\\\\\\\\/ . ///////////\ INTRODUCTION : /////////////\ ////\\\\\//// / I decided about a week ago that I can't be //// / //// /the only person on the list who has bought ///////////// / a CD by an artist they have never heard of //// \\\\\\\\\/before simply because its the first J-Pop //// / disc you've seen in your area in ages and //// /decided after listening to it that its not \\\\/really your type of music. So it goes in the back of the collection...a total waste /\ of cash. ////\\\\\\\//\ //// / Then I thought, maybe someone on the list //// / likes this artist and would like to trade /////////it for something in their collection they \\\\\\\\\\\\\bought on impulse, or something they have out grown. ///////////\ /////////////\It's about this time you would have seen ////\\\\\//// /my posts about establishing this magazine. //// / //// /You probably figured that I was using this /// / the idea to increase my collection without //// \\\\\\\\\/ sharing the information - not so. //// / //// / Here it is Issue One of CD Ichiba! \\\\/ --------------------------------------------------------------------------- This Months Selection --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Firstly, thanks to this month's contributors. Without your help Issue One of CD Ichiba would have never have got off the ground. Thanks! Basically, what we have here is a list of people, what they want to trad and/or sell and what they wish to trade for or buy. If there is anything on their lists you want to buy, trade or sell get in contact with them via e-mail and work out some kind of deal ! Timothy Leung - t1leung@scs.Ryerson.CA To Sell/Trade : 1. BTW - Any prices quoted above will (I suppose) be in the currency of the senders country any may or may not be negotiable. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- SO HOW DOES THIS PROCESS WORK ? --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I suppose that this whole system works purely on honesty and how much you want to trust the person you are doing business with. The system is open to abuse and I'm afraid I can't figure any bullet proof way to ensure that you get what you paid/traded for. Any ideas ? Here are a few ideas :- Decide if you are going to trust the person from initial e-mailcontact. Hard one to call :) Work out a deal you both agree on. - If trading more than one disc agree to send them to each other one at a time. And don't send others until you have receivedthe first. That way if the person on the other end breaks thedeal you haven't lost the lot. Might cost a little more for postage. - If someone breaks a deal e-mail me and I'll ensure that theirname does not appear on this list in the future. I supposeyou could also flame them over the net (?). Any further ideas to prevent being ripped off greatly appreciated. Mail them to me. DISCLAIMER: I'd also like to point out at this time that this and all further Issues of CD Ichiba are simply presenting advertisements just like your local newspaper and the author will not be held liable for the loss or damage of items nor the loss of any money. The author also does not vouch for the character of individuals named in this newsletter. (Can anyone out there write me a real disclaimer ???) Not getting ripped off, disclaimers its all beginning to sound a bit gloomy. I'd like to see this system work, treat it well. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- CLOSING WORDS --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'd like to make CD Ichiba THE place to trade Japanese music on the net. So if you've got CD's to sell or trade e-mail me your list along with your wish list and I'll publish them in Issue Two of CD Ichiba. (Oh yeah, records and cassettes also OK). Finally, to all the contributors in Issue One thanks once again for your support. Let me know if you make a successful trade/sale and I'll remove that/those disks from next months issue. Feedback ? Comments ? Got something to sell/trade ? Any suggestions for Issue Two greatly appreciated. Good luck in your search. Copyright 1994, Byron Kidd. All Rights Reserved.
