Tackey & Tsubasa debuted at No. 1 once again with their latest album “TACKEY & TSUBASA BEST” (or TackeyTsuba Best) which celebrates the duo’s fifth year anniversary.

The album features the group’s CD single releases and more. With most of their music more J-Pop in nature, their latest release “SAMURAI” featured on this Best Album is more rock-based.

If you are a curious fan of T&T or want to purchase an album from them, then you can’t go wrong with their first best album because it incorporates five years of their music that was released.

The Johnny’s Jimusho machine has been going quite strong in the past two years with strong sales and and with each release, as expected with Johnny’s groups, expect multi-releases of an album.

In this case, the first version CD+DVD is what we are reviewing. But there are also two other versions released. The second version is a two-CD version which features no DVD but features a second music CD with ten more tracks which include four T&T tracks and three solo songs by Takizawa Hideaki and Imai Tsubasa each.

The third release is a single CD version but unlike the other two releases, the normal edition features a bonus track titled “Daydreamer” produced by Fujii Fumiya.

As for the DVD release, the DVD features a music video clip medley. Earlier this year the duo had a video clips release titled “Tsukiba Clips” but this one features a medley with all songs up to “Samurai”. The video clip samples of each song are actually quite long (not the typical 30-second medley sample).

But a cool addition for T&T fans is the inclusion of the fifth anniversary video (History of Tackey & Tsubasa) which is a documentary featuring the duo when they formed as a group, crowd reaction and then a behind-the-scenes look at the duo’s live performances, behind-the-scenes look at the making of music videos and an interview with both guys. The anniversary video is about 30 minutes long.

As for the CD insert, it features photos of the duo and the CD lyrics.

More than likely if you are a fan of TACKEY & TSUBASA, you are going to buy this album no matter what. If you are an uber-fan, then you are going to buy all three versions.

If you could only afford one, then I recommend the version with the DVD because of the documentary and also the music video medley.

Otherwise, the album release is solid and you can’t go wrong with any of the releases for this best album. If you dig their music, then “TACKEY & TSUBASA BEST” makes a good starting point because a lot of their cool songs from the beginning to what was released last month is on this album and much more.
