Okinawa alternative rock band Orange Range (featuring YAMATO, HIROKI, RYO, NAOTO and YOH) have gone through musical changes since their major label debut but with their 21st CD single release “Hitomi no Saka ni” (the tip of the eyes), Orange Range returns with an uplifting ballad. “Hitomi no Saka ni” features a mellow ballad which features a blend of strings and rock music.
The band’s coupling song “crystal” features an instrumental track featuring electric guitar and percussion which starts off slow and slowly transitions with a deeper electric guitar sound. A pretty cool instrumental track.
The final track features an 80kidz remix of the band’s 20th CD single “Oshare Banchou”. A pretty cool upbeat remix featuring a good touch of electronic synth and beats.
CD insert comes witht he lyrics to “Hitomi no Saka ni” and a mini flyer with the schedule of Orange Range’s “LIVE TOUR 009-010 ~world world world”. CD+DVD version comes with the music video for “Hitomi no Saka ni”. The music video features the band singing the song and a story of two guys (the vocalist and guitarist) who form rock band “Over the Rainbow” and practice in their local high school but ego’s get in a way and the guitarist who takes his music seriously gets upset at the other member who keeps messing around and then a fight ensues with the guitarist quitting the band. Will the band ever reunite? A pretty cool music video.
Overall, another solid CD single from Orange Range. Some fans who are used to their more faster, upbeat music may feel that their music is becoming quite banal of late but for those who appreciate the band’s lyrics and consistency, will definitely enjoy this latest release.
