alan’s “Megumi no Ame” (Rain of Mercy) is her fifth and final “elements” CD single. Another beautiful ballad that showcases alan’s vocals and her talent playing the erhu.

One of my favorite vocalists coming from Japan right now is Tibetan singer alan (Alan Dawa Dolma). Literally, every CD single that she has released has been quite captivating as we get solid vocals, especially how she utilizes her Tibetan wail in her songs and occasionally we hear her playing the Chinese instrument, the erhu.
In 2008, alan embarked on a five CD single “elements” music campaign. Her fifth and final single in the campaign “Megumi no Ame” (Rain of Mercy) represents water in the Japanese Godai and the Tibetan Bön. The single is her eighth single overall.
For “Megumi no Ame”, alan begins the track playing the erhu and transitions to a piano and strings-driven ballad. The track is an absolutely beautiful ballad showcasing alan’s vocals and erhu playing.
The coupling track “Namida” (tears) is another strings-driven ballad that slowly transitions to a pop ballad with its deep beats. The song also incorporates a traditional Tibetan style of musical flair. The song is then followed by the two instrumental tracks of the first two vocal tracks.
As for the DVD, the music for “Megumi no Ame” features alan playing the erhu and then a beautiful scene of a group of women playing the cello and alan playing her erhu and singing the ballad. While rain begins to fall heavily on her.
The music video is followed by the making of “Megumi no Ame” and how she prepared for her emotional, crying scene.
Overall, “Megumi no Ame” is a fitting conclusion to alan’s “elements” campaign. We got to see several different sides of the music artist musically and for the most part, every release has been quite solid. If you are a fan of alan’s musical work, this CD single along with the previous releases are definitely worth checking out!
