SMAP’s Masahiro Nakai and Yuki Nakama to host Kouhaku Uta Gassen once again!

SMAP leader Masahiro Nakai and actress Yukie Nakama will host the 59th Red and White Singing Contest on New Year’s Eve, it was announced at a press conference Monday. It will be the fifth time and third year in a row for Nakai to chair the White Team, and the third time and first in two years for Nakama to chair the Red Team.
The pair last co-hosted the show together in 2006. Last year, Nakai led the White Team and Tsurube Shofukutei, 56, a rakugo performer and comedian, led the Red Team.
“I hope people don’t mistake this as some kind of promotion for our new movie,” Nakai insisted. He was referring to “Watashi wa kai ni naritai,” a movie starring Nakai and Nakama, which opened on Nov 22, a day for couples in Japan. Nakai went on to say: “Nakama and I made a great couple that day. I don’t want to have any kind of couple’s argument on New Year’s Eve, but I want to fight hard and lead my team to victory.”
Nakama Yukie to play Toyotomi Hidetoshi’s wife in upcoming drama

Japantoday.com reported, “Actress Yukie Nakama, 28, will play the wife of Hideyoshi Toyotomi, the Sengoku period warlord who unified Japan in the 17th century, in a new TV drama “Nene – Onna Taiheiki.” It will air on the TV Tokyo network in January next year.”

Japantoday.com reported, “Actress Yukie Nakama, 28, and ex-Yakult Swallows manager Atsuya Furuta, 42, teamed up this week to promote Panasonic’s new beauty appliance brand “Panasonic Beauty.” The two will appear new TV commercials from autumn. Asked about the essence of beauty, Nakama said, “The first impression stemming from grooming and appearance is important. But internal beauty is also necessary for external beauty.”

Mainichi Daily News reported, “Actress Yukie Nakama accidentally crashed her car into a steel pole on the premises of a Tokyo home over the weekend, police said.”
“Nakama, 28, was not injured in the accident. “I turned the steering wheel to the left to avoid an oncoming car, but my car hit the pole. I intend to pay compensation to the owner,” she was quoted as telling investigators.”

JapanToday.com reported, “Actress Yukie Nakama, 28, this week prayed for the success of NTV’s revived drama series “Gokusen” at a special shrine made for the event at NTV headquarters in Shiodome, Tokyo.”
“In the popular drama, based on a manga series, Nakama plays Kumiko Yamaguchi, the granddaughter of a yakuza boss and teacher at an all-boys private high school. Her yakuza background, which she tries to keep secret, helps her deal with her class which is full of delinquents (some of whom have been played by idols from Johnny’s Jimusho talent agency).”
