Japantoday.com reported, “Actress-singer Kou Shibasaki, 27, on Sunday night finished her first nationwide tour “Live Tour 2008 - 1st -” in Shibuya. Starting on July 26, she toured six cities for seven concerts attended by about 15,000 fans.”

JapanToday.com reported, “Actress and singer Ko Shibasaki, 26, will embark on a nationwide concert tour this summer. Shibasaki will tour six cities and hold seven concerts which about 15,000 fans are expected to attend, her agency said. Shibasaki, who debuted as a singer in 2002, has only held small concerts so far.”

Daily Yomiuri’s Kitagawa Ikuko recently reviewed the Shibasaki Kou film. Kitagawa wrote, “Actress Ko Shibasaki was all set for her upcoming kung fu comedy Shorin Shojo (Shaolin Girl). Starting a year before shooting began, she is said to have worked hard to get fit and practiced Shaolin kung fu from the basic level onward to be ready to fight without relying on stunt doubles.”

“Shibasaki plays Rin, a Japanese girl who comes back from her 3,000-day training at a martial art school in China to popularize Shaolin kung fu in Japan. In the film, she is kicked in the face and thrown to the ground. (And remember–no stunt doubles.) What a courageous actress!”

“Ironically, though, the film, which proved her to be a hard-working actress, also ruins her performance because of a shallow plot that doesn’t know which way to go.”

“The idea of Shorin Shojo, directed by Katsuyuki Motohiro (Odoru Daisosasen: The Movie), was derived from the 2001 Hong Kong action comedy Shaolin Soccer. According to the production notes, Shorin Shojo producer Chihiro Kameyama hit it off very well with Shaolin Soccer director Stephen Chow, who became the executive producer on Kameyama’s project to make a similar type of film originating in Japan.”

JapanToday.com reported, “Actres Kou Shibasaki, 26, turned up at the premiere of her new film “Shaolin Girl” at Roppongi Hills, this week. The film is a lacrosse version of the popular film “Shaolin Soccer,” in which she plays a girl who tries to spread Shaolin kungfu in Japan through lacrosse.”

It’s Wednesday and that means new releases. Which artist or group has the #1 album on the Oricon Daily Charts?

NOTE: Shibasaki scores two albums in the top 3 with Single Best (32,353) and “The Back Best” (9,065) in sales. Hirai Ken’s “FAKIN’ POP” was at #2 with 21,112 copies sold. Good showing yet again for pop group C-ute and ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION drops to #7.

Last week’s #1, BoA’s “THE FACE” drops to #12. aiko has re-released seven albums on March 12 with four albums in the top 20 (10, 11, 14, 15).
