The latest compilation from Avex’s urban label rhythm zone, featured on the album are a good balance of dance tracks, ballads, hip hop, reggae and soul R&B.

All in all, you get a good blend of music in this compilation album.  The Western influence of “We International” by DOUBLE and Los Angeles MC Ak’Sent.  A smooth ballad featuring the sultry vocals of Koda Kumi, the funky pop song “Choosey Lover” by Tohoshinki, the dance pop song of “Piranha” by Tenjochiki, Ryohei’s cover of the Des’ree hit “You Gotta Be”, “A song of Freedom” with it’s reggae groove by Rickie-G and so much more.

For those who enjoy the music coming from rhythm zone, you can’t really go wrong with this compilation because it features 16 tracks with various styles of music and also the price point at Y1,800 is priced slightly higher than a CD single.

Also, by purchasing this compilation, you do get the 13 minute DVD featuring a one minute or more sample of each song.  14 of the 16 tracks from the album have music video samples (with the exception of the DOUBLE and SEAMO tracks) and the music videos are played non-stop and continuous.  There is no DVD menu.

CD insert booklet features the lyrics for each song featured on this compilation.

As mentioned earlier, you really can’t go wrong with a compilation especially if it’s priced under $20 and comes with a DVD.

Sure, they could have put any Koda Kumi up-tempo fast song on this album but they opted for “Unmei” .  The same can be said for Asian Engineer with it’s song “Hitori no Merry Christmas” but since the album was released on December 5th, doesn’t suprise me that this song was added on to the compilation.

But what I like about this compilation is the fact that people can get to sample a good number of artists that music listeners may not be acquainted with.  From the awesome vocals of the boy band COLOR, the beautiful vocals of former m-flo member LISA, the reggae of Rickie-G and much more.

All in all, this compilation does a good job of showcasing a variety of artists with their own distinct style of music from the label. Pop, soul R&B, hip hop, reggae, etc., the type of music that you have heard from rhythm zone and expect from the label are featured on this album.  Very good musical selections and a compilation with an excellent price point that its hard not to recommend.

A cool compilation.  Definitely check it out!
