Japantoday.com reported, “Pop group Morning Musume and the Takarazuka Revue Company opened their joint stage performance of “Cinderella the Musical” in Tokyo this week. Former Takarazuka star Mire Aika, 43, is making a comeback in the musical after being treated for malignant lymphoma for the past seven months.”
“I’m very happy to be here tonight. The treatment is finishing soon. Being on stage is the best medicine for me,” said Aika, who plays the role of Cinderella’s stepmother.”

Biyuden was formed by ex-Morning Musume member Rika Ishikawa, 23, together with Yui Okada, 20, and Erika Miyoshi, 23, in 2004. The group became popular and famous for its sexy costumes and dances.”
“Ishikawa told fans: “We’re very happy to have such as a wonderful farewell tonight. I really appreciate your support for the past 3 years and 9 months.”

Mainichi Daily News reported, “All-girl pop group Morning Musume attracted some 2,000 fans to their concert in Tokyo on Sunday, as they wrapped up their nationwide “greatest hits” tour. The group will begin a new tour on May 24, performing in Taiwan, Korea and China.”
“At every concert on the “2008 Spring Single Daizenshu (complete collection)” tour, the group performed all their 36 singles — from the 1998 debut song “Morning Coffee” to the latest “Resonant Blue.” A total of 60,000 fans attended the 35 concerts held across Japan.”

CRIEnglish.com reported, “Morning Musume, a popular all-girl group from Japan, will hold their first concert on the Chinese mainland at the end of next month, portal website Sina reported on Thursday.”
“The show, which will be performed at the Shanghai Grand Stage on June 28, is part of an international music fair, which began in February to promote the 2010 Shanghai Expo.”
“The young girls were the first Japanese artists to be invited to the event, said the report.”

JapanToday.com reported, “Pop group Morning Musume will hold a concert in Shanghai on June 28 as part of an international music fair. The music fair has been held since February to promote the Shanghai Expo in 2010 and Canadian singer Celine Dion and Hong Kong actor Tony Leung have participated so far. Morning Musume will be the first Japanese artists invited to the event, the organizer said Tuesday.”
Ai Takahashi, 21, leader of Morning Musume, said, “We hope we will make everyone in Shanghai happy with our concert.” Chinese member of the group, Li Chun, 20, added, “It was my dream to be able to perform at a live concert in my own country. I can hardly wait.”

In the latest Wai Wai translated from an article from “Asahi Geinou”, “Sacked in disgrace for being caught smoking while underage — only cigarettes, mind you — fallen idol Ai Kago stunned Japan’s entertainment world watchers with a revealing interview announcing her comeback, and Asahi Geino (4/24) says that’s not all she might be about to reveal.”
“Kago’s talent agency fired her in spring last year when the paparazzi caught her on camera for the third time as she puffed away on a cigarette, even though she hadn’t reached the legal age for smoking of 20.”
“Fickle though it seems compared to the antics of some young stars in Hollywood, that’s the reality facing young celebrities in Japan’s hypersensitive entertainment world, where image is absolutely everything.”

“Asked about her boyfriend, who was 18 years older than her when they were dating at that time, and who was photographed together with her in a car, she said, “On the day I was photographed smoking in his car with him, my parents got divorced. Because I was depressed, he took me out. He always told me not to smoke but I couldn’t help it because I was stressed out a lot at that time.”

Former Morning Musume member Goto Maki took a step away from her career and went on hiatus as her brother faced major charges for theft.
JapanToday.com reported, “Maki Goto, 22, who is an ex-member of the popular group Morning Musume, has updated her official blog for the first time since her brother was arrested for stealing last October. Goto withdrew from various music projects with other female groups and artists all produced by music producer Tsunku over the case.”
“Goto, who is currently staying in Los Angeles, said on the blog that she will soon resume her activities. “I’m very sorry for the trouble my brother caused and for pulling out of ‘Hello! Project.’ It’s been a struggle, but I have decided to move on to the next step.”More on this article
