Ken Ogata dies at 71

Mainichi Daily News reported, “Ken Ogata, a versatile actor who starred in a number of films, TV dramas and theater plays, died of liver cancer at the age of 71 on Sunday, his family said on Tuesday.”
“Ogata, whose real first name was Akinobu, was best known for his distinctive acting in the films “Kichiku” (”The Damon”, 1978) and “Narayama Bushiko” (”The Ballad of Narayama”, 1983) that won the Golden Palm at the Cannes Film Festival. Ogata received the Mainichi Film Award for best actor for his roles in both films.”
Unreleased song from enka artist Misora Hibari found

Japantoday.com reported, “A unreleased song by enka singer Misora Hibari, who passed away at the age of 52 in 1989, will be released in October, her agent said. The song, titled “Au wa wakren,” was recently found in the warehouse of a record company. According the company, the song was recorded in 1968 but never released.”
Ebi-chan denies rumor affairs

Japantoday.com reported, “Popular model Yuri Ebihara, in Shanghai Sunday to promote her line of “fing MOTESTO” stockings, insisted the rumors that she is having an affair with basketball player Kei Igarashi, are not true. “That was my twin sister,” she said of the person seen at a basketball game in which Igarashi was playing. “Not me.” As far as she is concerned, Igarashi is just “an acquaintance.”
Takeuchi Yuko promotes EPSON’s Colorio

Actress Takeuchi Yuko (28) and Ogata Kobushi (71) took part in a press conference on the 19th to promote EPSON’s Colorio Printer. The printer takes your digital camera memory card and put it in the Colorio to print out photos. The commercials will start airing in Japan on Oct. 1.

YOSHIKI’s X JAPAN Asia concert promotion tour ends

X Japan leader YOSHIKI is currently on his Asia Promotional Tour which took the musician/producer to four countries Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand and Korea on the 19th.
300 fans were invited to the Plaza Hotel and were excited about the March 21st concert announcement at the Seoul Olympic Park. After his promotion in Korea, YOSHIKI arrived back in Japan where he told the press that he was tired but smiled and said that he had a grasp on Asia.
YOSHIKI in the last four days have met up with around 700 members of the press and was greeted by around 150,00 fans.
