CRIEnglish.com reported, “Jackie Chan’s legendary career will be archived in a new museum for which the star laid the foundation Tuesday in Shanghai.”

“Chan handpicked the location for the museum, which will be named after him, in the Changfeng Ecology Commercial District in Shanghai’s Putuo District, Sina.com.cn says.”

“The museum will largely be renovated from old factory buildings. When completed on October 1 next year, it will take up about 3,100 square meters.”

Chosun reported, “Gyeonggi Province is to appoint Jackie Chan as a goodwill ambassador for a Korean Wave theme park on Wednesday. Hallyuwood — a conflation of “hallyu” or Korean wave and Hollywood — features a variety of tourist facilities such as studios where Korean soap operas and films are made, entertainment facilities, museum, shops, Korean cooking classes and restaurants. The park is going up on a 990,000 sq.m site and is to be completed by 2012.”

CRIEnglish.com reported, “Hong Kong action hero Jackie Chan said he wanted to make a film about the massive earthquake which hit China earlier this month to raise money for victims.”

“Chan is best known for action-packed blockbusters like the Rush Hour series but said the new project would represent a change of tone because he had been so deeply affected by what happened in his homeland.”

“The official death toll from the quake, which hit Sichuan province on May 12, is now over 55,000. It is China’s worst disaster in a generation.”

“Tomorrow we have big meeting with some directors, some scriptwriters - why? I want to make the movie about the earthquake because there’s so many touching stories,” an emotional Chan told a press conference in London.”

[CHINA] Stars rush to Sichuan for quake relief

“Kung Fu star Jackie Chan landed in Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan Province some 100 kilometers from the earthquake epicenter on the morning of May 16, sources say. ”

“The star brought 120,000 bottles of water and food worth one million yuan and he personally donated an additional 50,000 yuan to a local hospital while visiting injured earthquake victims in Deyang, one of the most seriously hit counties in Sichuan.”

“Relief work and reconstructing our homeland is by no means easy, but we will always be here to help,” the star said.

CRIEnglish.com reported, “The overwhelming box-office success of the action-adventure flick “The Forbidden Kingdom” has prompted its producers to shoot a sequel.”

“Sources from the film’s Chinese investor and distributor, Huayi Brothers, said Tuesday they will once again collaborate with Hollywood for part two of the Jackie Chan-Jet Li film, the Beijing Times reported.”

“The two action heroes will appear in the follow-up film, together with actress Li Bingbing, who made her major Hollywood debut with “Forbidden Kingdom.”

“The sequel is likely to feature a romance between Jet Li and Li Bingbing’s characters, the Beijing Times report says.”

The Associated Press reported, “Martial arts adventure “The Forbidden Kingdom” ruled over the box office in North America this weekend as the movie featuring Chinese superstars Jackie Chan and Jet Li together for the first time debuted about 20.9 million dollars over the three-day period, preliminary figures released Sunday showed.”

“The film, jointly released by Lionsgate and the Weinstein Co., tells the story of a modern American teenage hurtled back in time to ancient China, where he is charged with a task to free the fabled warrior the Monkey King with the help from kung fu masters played by Jackie Chan and Jet Li. ”

[HK] Jackie Chan and Jet Li promote “The Forbidden Kingdom”

“Director Rob Minkoff and female leads Liu Yifei and Li Bingbing also attended the press conference, the film’s first in Asia.”

“‘The Forbidden Kingdom’ is being heavily promoted as the first film starring both Jackie Chan and Jet Li, an opportunity Li said both he and longtime friend Chan had waited 15 years for. He said working together made them even closer, like brothers.”
