JapanToday.com reported, “Singer Ayumi Hamasaki, 29, on Saturday started an Asian tour in Tokyo to mark the 10th anniversary of her debut. It is her first concert since she revealed in January that she had lost the hearing ability in her left ear. At the concert, attended by 12,000 fans, Hamasaki said, “I’m able to perform tonight thanks to my fans here.” But she made no references to her hearing problem.”
According to an article on Wai Wai translating a Japanese article from Sunday Mainichi, Hamasaki Ayumi is deaf in one ear.
According to Wai Wai, “Pop diva Ayumi Hamasaki confirmed earlier this month what her nastier critics have been saying about her tone for years — she’s deaf, at least in her left ear. And Sunday Mainichi (1/27) says the 29-year-old superstar’s ailment isn’t being helped by her increasing isolation in the music world.”
“Hamasaki used a special member’s only blog she writes to reveal she’d lost her hearing.”
“Actually, last year I had a hearing test that revealed my left ear doesn’t work at all, and the doctor said there’s no operation that can fix it,” Sunday Mainichi quotes the songstress writing to her fans.”
It was announced on the 6th that Hamasaki Ayumi’s (The singer will be celebrating her 10 year anniversary since her debut this year) condition in her left ear has taken a turn for the worst and she cannot hear out of it at all anymore. Ayu (29) announced this herself on her webpage.
On her blog entry dated for the 4th, she stated, “I actually went to the doctor’s last year to get my ear checked and I was told that my left ear had completely stopped working and that there is no treatment for it.” However, she confirmed that she would continue her work as a singer and said, “I will continue singing as long as my right ear keeps working, until it reaches its limit. As a professional, I will keep delivering amazing songs to everyone. 10 year anniversary, here we go!”
Her record company, Avex states, “There was already an announcement to fans, and this comment was a declaration of her dedication to her 10 year anniversary.”
In 2000, Ayu had to postpone part of her tour because of the condition in her inner left ear. Since then, it was announced on various media including tv that as an after effect, her hearing would continue to deteriorate.
A tabloid magazine has photos of Nagase Tomoya (29) and his “Utahime” co-star Aibu Saki (22) at a local video rental store together. Nagase Tomoya, the lead vocalist of TOKIO was previously engaged to pop diva Hamasaki Ayumi (29).
The duo were dating for seven years until they broke up in July.
Aibu Saki has been seen previously in commercials for “Mister Donuts” and the dramas “Water Boys”, “Ushi ni Negai wo: Love & Farm” and “Karei-naru ichizoku”
It’s new releases Wednesday and which artist or group took the #1 position?
NOTE: Hamasaki Ayumi takes the #1 spot again this year for album release. Kobukuro settles for #2 but I expect Kobukuro to jet back up to #1 because of their popularity. EXILE stays in the top 3 while last week’s #1 BUMP OF CHICKEN drops to #4.
