GOSSIP GIRL WINS THE 9 O‘CLOCK HOUR WITH YOUNG WOMEN
GOSSIP GIRL Posts Third Best Women Demos of Season
The CW Ranks Second on Monday with Young Women
December 1, 2009 (Burbank, CA) – The CW’s GOSSIP GIRL won its 9:00-10:00p.m. time period in its target young women demographics, beating all network competition among women 18-34 (2.9/7) and females 12-34 (2.7/7), according to preliminary live plus same day Nielsen ratings for Monday, Nov. 30, 2009. GOSSIP GIRL matched its third best ratings of the season in women 18-34.GOSSIP GIRL delivered solid improvement compared to its previous original telecast (on 11/16/09), gaining 16% in women 18-34 and up 6% in adults 18-34 (1.7/5). ONE TREE HILL also out-performed its previous original episode (on 11/16/09) by 4% in women 18-34 (2.4/6) and 7% in adults 18-34 (1.6/4).
The CW ranked second on Monday night in women 18-34 (2.7/7) and females 12-34 (2.5/7), behind only FOX.

Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello has reported that Hilary Duff will be joining the CW’s “Gossip Girl”. Ausiello wrote that Duff will be playing Olivia Burke, a movie star who enrolls at NYU in search of a traditional college experience and will be rooming with Vanessa (Jessica Szohr).

February 24, 2009 (Burbank, California) – The CW announced today the early pickups of six series, including five of the network’s signature dramas and the reality hit AMERICA‘S NEXT TOP MODEL, which will all return in Fall 2009.
“As we continue to build The CW Network as a destination for young women, these six shows have clearly contributed to strengthening our schedule and our brand identity,” said Dawn Ostroff, President, Entertainment, The CW. “By securing these signature hits for next season, we’re furthering our commitment to deliver high-quality, original programming to our viewers, advertisers and affiliates.”
Among the series receiving early pickups for next season are The CW’s Monday tandem of sophomore sensation GOSSIP GIRL and ONE TREE HILL, which combined to lift The CW to become the fall’s #1 network on Monday with women 18-34. Both GOSSIP GIRL and ONE TREE HILL have scored double-digit gains compared to their previous seasons. Freshman hit 90210 has improved the network’s Tuesday night by double-digit increases in key demos. Wednesday anchor AMERICA‘S NEXT TOP MODEL, which consistently wins its time period with young women, will also be back with superstar Tyra Banks and new groups of aspiring models for cycles 13 and 14.
Also renewed were the network’s established Thursday team of SMALLVILLE, which will be going into its ninth season, and SUPERNATURAL, which after posting ratings growth this season, will enter its fifth season next year.

GOSSIP GIRL Builds Week-to-Week; Wins the Hour with Target Women Demos
GOSSIP GIRL and ONE TREE HILL Drive The CW to Its Third Best Monday EVER
November 4, 2008 (Burbank, CA) – With the strong combination of GOSSIP GIRL and ONE TREE HILL, The CW finished as Monday’s #1 network with women 18-34 (3.8/9) and females 12-34 (3.5/9) for the 8th time this season, according to preliminary live plus same day Nielsen ratings for Monday, Nov. 3, 2008. This marks The CW’s third best Monday of the season, and third best ever with young women.
GOSSIP GIRL scored its best ratings in more than a month among women 18-34 (3.9/10) and women 18-49 (2.5/6), best since 9/29/08. GOSSIP GIRL won the 8:00-9:00p.m. hour among women 18-34 and females 12-34 (3.6/10), and ranked second in adults 18-34 (2.4/6-tie).
GOSSIP GIRL improved over last week by 11% in women 18-34 and 9% in adults 18-34. GOSSIP GIRL remains well ahead of season one, gaining over its year-ago performance by 44% in women 18-34 and 33% in adults 18-34.
ONE TREE HILL continues to have an impressively strong sixth season, building over season five by double-digits in all key demos. Versus the comparable episode a year ago, ONE TREE HILL improved by 19% in women 18-34 (3.7/9), 14% in adults 18-34 (2.4/6), 14% in women 18-49 (2.4/5) and 14% in adults 18-49 (1.6/4). ONE TREE HILL finished second in its time period in women 18-34 (3.7/9), adults 18-34 (2.4/6-tie) and females 12-34 (3.4/9).
GOSSIP GIRL and ONE TREE HILL remain the perfect dramatic pairing, with ONE TREE HILL retaining 100% of its GOSSIP GIRL lead-in among adults 18-34 and women 18-34, and holding 95% or more of its GOSSIP GIRL lead-in in viewers, adults 18-49 and women 18-49.
GOSSIP GIRL and ONE TREE HILL have dramatically improved The CW’s Monday, posting year-to-year gains on Monday by 140% in adults 18-34 (2.4/6), 192% in women 18-34 (3.8/9), 78% in adults 18-49 (1.6/4), 92% in women 18-49 (2.5/6) and 46% in viewers (3.1mil).
