Social networking sites 1, Me 0

How many blogs does an average computer user own these days?
How many social networking sites does one typically belong to?
How often do you really have to tell your friends what you are doing?
These days, more and more musicians and public figures also use social networking sites to reach out to their fans. I suppose that is a good way to interact with those who support them.
And for those of us not so famous, while it’s fun to share your thoughts and pictures with those you feel compelled to tell, some more often than others, is it really necessary to expose yourself to such an extent, that when I search for someone’s name on the net, their embarrassing photos from last week’s drunken party became the first hit that came up?
Fortunately I’m not one of these people who leaves embarrassing photographic evidence around the net, but I do admit that I already have enough blogs… Livejournal, Vox, Blogger, Friendster, Facebook… I really don’t need anymore, especially I do already spend a lot of hours on these sites. And not to mention this new J!-ENT staff blog that I just got…
But today, I succumbed myself to the mess known as MySpace.
For a long time I have debated whether to sign up, simply because I wanted to comment on my favorite artists’ MySpace sites. But I’ve been able to restrain myself for the longest time.
Until today. And all it took was for my favorite band to limit certain blog entries to only friends on their MySpace.
Gah!!! I have fallen. Too easily. I’m so weak.
I admit defeat.

I think that no matter how we would like to resist, we are tied into this social media network and myspace, facebook and twitter brings so many people together. Yeah, I know what you mean though….having too much.
But in this case, you joining the new social media site was for a good cause right
*SIGH* It’s funny how people are just on Myspace and use only Facebook, or the other way around. I know people who use only Friendster even. I feel that it is all a matter of what kind of exposure would one like. An internet savvy person would only benefit from having part in ALL of these^^
People rarely e-mail me these days. They would rather send messages through Myspace or Twitter. I really like Twitter because it serves as an “echo” for these other social network sites. I think it will become the future of this genre!
