Although I’m a little bit sad, because there is nothing about the European Fans (I’m german) and I was really curiouse about being some kind of compared with the fandoms of other countries…

ok it might be just me but the interview disappointed me. the questions werent really interesting and their answers were mainly limited to only one sentence and it all seemed VERY VERY carelessly and lackluster. Sort of: “just get it over with”. T_T
Makes me wonder if they actually appreciate us oversea-fans. *gosh! I’m about to cry*

SEGEN: Oh, we have a pretty good-sized European section but there were several German fans who contributed to that section.
LISA: I totally understand how you feel. This interview was different from any other interview we’ve done because the answers we tend to get are usually lengthy. And we really wanted more (even after the interview, kept persisting with the label and management of trying getting more from them [to answer more interview questions or complete our profile questions if their schedule permitted) but the management was so strict because of the tour schedule.
But even with their strict schedule, they did answer around 26 or so questions and they did it for you all. Personally, typically during concert time…labels and management refuse the interviews but I feel they knew the situation and didn’t want to disappoint any of you, so they tried to do their best to answer them, even knowing that they had no time at all. So, for that…these guys are a class act and respect that even during hell week for tour preparations, they made the effort.
Nevertheless, I hope now that things will change and management knows that their fandom is not just in Japan and Korea and that its quite large worldwide. And that the next (hopefully in the near/future) interview will be during a time when it’s less hectic and plan it before a major concert tour.

I appreciate how much work you guys put into and I also understand the bands schedule that its just being an oversea fan isnt necessarily easy.
I mean most of us are loyal, whether they are in Japan or Korea we support them regardless where they are without expecting anything, we cant just turn on the radio/TV and they are on , most of us cant just walk into our local store to buy their stuff, we have to order over the internet which is so much more expensive (the packaging, the shipping, and european fans have to pay extra fees for anything that is outside of the EU, the long wait) I for example had to pay almost 50$ and wait 4 months for a Single(!). We cant really join their fanclubs and even if, we still cant make use of most benefits. most of us are aware that we will never see them in concert, its almost impossible for us to get into any contact with them and dont forget about the language barrier BUT DESPITE ALL THAT we still support them regardless and suppot each other in supporting them (e.g. translators/subbing teams etc.
This thing here was one of the VERY few opportunity to get into contact with them but all we got were some lackluster one line replys. I underdstand that they are busy but I hope its also undertandable that I am a bit sad.

Thanks Dennis and your team for tirelessly working over this article for the last 4 months, I still can not get over how big this article has become! Many fans from across the world was brought together by this project, and I am very grateful for the opportunity to read about so many fans’ lives and experiences with DBSK.
Regarding the interview, I completely understand about your difficulties with it, especially since it was during a very hectic time in DBSK’s schedule. I am very satisfied with the finishing product, this is going to provide me with a lot of reading material for the next week haha!
I’ve also been reading your reviews of DBSK’s singles and albums, hopefully through getting to know them better you guys have also gained some admiration for their music abilities.
Please keep following DBSK’s progress, and maybe in the future as you’ve said there’d be the opportunity for a more in-depth face-to-face interview with them, Just had a thought, how about the Hollywood Bowl concert? That could be a good opportunity to interview them, though most likely they’d be too busy lol.

THIS IS SO EXCITING! Again, again, thank-you so so so much for doing this great massive one-of-a-kind super duper article extraordonaire about our favourite guys!! I love J!-ENT (& you) for doing such a great job with it, and ofr treating us fans so well. You answered all our (hundreds of) questions and replied to each and every person kindly. For you to be able to organize this massive of a project is a great feat. And all the DBSK fans really appreciate your effort for doing this for us and for the group!
Hoepfully, DBSK will see just how many amazing and dedicated fans they have overseas and interact more with their (justy as or more) active international Cassiopeia!

And fans should not discouraged by their short replies, granted their interview was small, knowing how the guys hardly get ANY days off or proper rest, it worries many fans. They must have been extremely tired and worn out because of the tour (or top of everything else they are doing: weekly radio program, magazine shoots, program appeareances/performances, single releases, TV promotions, and the list continues) and it is because we love them, that we should understand they are humans too, who probably didn’t fully realized or were told by their management about the MASSIVE extent of this international project and to the great amount of fans they will be able to communicate to! J!ENT tried hard to talk to management, and I am SURE they would have replied better if they were given the RIGHT opportunity/circumstances by their management, because in all their previous interviews, they really seemed pleased to learn about int’l fans and were geniunely interested in doing something for us. If their management had known then just HOW many fans they were and they would have been able to talk to through this article, they would have surely provided our boys more time to answer.
I love our boys, and I blame their schedule if anything. I am sure they will make it up, if they can =3

I read the whole article. i must say i am pretty happy about it. It must have taken a huge chunk of your time to put together such a large and comprehensive article. So thank you for letting us overseas fans have a voice in letting THSK know that there’s loads of us who love and support them even though most of us are halfway around the world from them and probably don’t know Korean or Japanese. I must agree with Luffa that even though the replies were very short and scant, we should be thankful that they actually did the interview because they were in the middle of preparing for their tour. It should have been a hectic time for them cause they were also preparing to release their beautiful you single. They barely have any rest as it is so we shouldn’t demand anything else from them and just be content with what we have. I hope THSK would read the article completely, all 500 pages and be as awed and amazed by the work of J-Ent and all the fans who participated in it.

Hi, I read the short version, hmmmm…I think it was a bit short, I am not really sad but how I hope they can answer more to each question, but I can understand how busy DBSK was. Oh my god, i have finished reading the 500-page version and also the short one. *tears up* It kinda touched me that our TVXQ really have at least this many fans around the world. And all of us are able to do something to let TVXQ know that we’re alive and are supporting them from behind.
Not to forget, TVXQ really answer some of the fan’s question ^^ Really thankful because they give some of their time for it. Now, that’s another reason why i must continue to support TVXQ!!
And i’ll treat both the version nicely as my treasure ^^

As for those asking if the guys have read it. I would assume that they have. Their label and management have received it. I do know that they have seen the “Where in the World?” section and several pages of the “Worldwide Fandom” because that was what helped us use to get the interview by showing the International fandom. Now, curious if their office are printing the pages separately…hehe…that’s a lot of pages to print out.
Hahahaha….since they’re so business minded, I swear if they print it out and sell and make profit WITHOUT giving KNDY royalties, i’ll probably boycott them pirates! XD

I know DBSG’s well-known in many countries, but i’ve never thought they had fan in that many places. There’re even some countries i have never heard of in my life 0_o.
Duo to their tight schedule, we can’t expect more in the interview part. On the other hand, i was disappointed with the review part. I expected to see more criticism.

Thank you everyone for the kind comments. As for the interview, it’s understandable. Even when I received the interview, I was hoping for more but at the same time, I realized that with their schedule and how hectic things were…
But it was one of those things where you just feel happy that you got something…and the fact that it was not just a few questions but they tried to get as much completed as possible.
So, for those who expected more… I understand. This was a rare situation that we have ever faced but at the same time, why I’m proud of them is that… in my opinion, I don’t think interview was going to happen. I think the guys made the time to make it happen with which little time they had.
But I hope to get a second interview in the near future and this time, plan it during a month where there is no Japan tour, Asia tour, Korea tour or performance in the USA or another country….whichever that month may be? Hehe… What these guys are doing. I swear, I have not seen any artist or group that busy. For a music artist, there is typically a down time… but as Yunho said, there is no free time. But again, I totally understand because if I was in a reader’s position, I definitely would want more as well.

I haven’t yet downloaded the book but intend to. Actually, I came across DBSK while looking for songs to put in my daughter’s wedding video (music to put with the pictures of her and her fiance’ growing up). We are from the U. S. but her fiance’ is from South Korea so I naturally wanted music from both countries. The boys have the voices of angels and while I’m probably much older than most fans, I don’t tire of listening to them. I wish I could tell them myself but don’t know how to contact them. Going to the SM website doesn’t help me since I don’t reat Hangul.
Anyway, thank you in advance for all our hard work.

They did say the management and A&R and the guys received it and they were very congratulatory and excited about the numbers. But working with the music labels, when there is success, they see opportunity, so immediately their reply was coverage for other bands and artists and more work. Hehe… But I’ll see keep prodding them and getting an answer.
Carla and Luffa - It’s weird, I’m going to test it on a few computers today and see what’s going on because I see it fine. But then again, I’m on a Mac. So, maybe different response on a PC. I’ll check on it.

Thanks. If anything, this article taught me that a lot of fans are open to other forms of music from Asia, so if anything, I would like to move forward and do interviews with Korean artists, groups and we’ll see how things go. I received comments from various industry associates who were blown away by the fandom. Some to even say that “I think Korea will be shock to see this” because they are unaware of International fans. They are aware of fans in Japan or China. So, it was good to showcase fans from all over.

I think its really neat idea to diversify your interviews — there is DEFINITELY a huge number k-pop fans now days, therefore a large market for it. I got into kpop because of DBSK (before I used to only listen to jmusic), and for many people I have been meeting online for the past 2 years, it was usually that one band or singer that completely pulled them in. It was a different experience than jpop, which majority of foreigners discovered through anime.
Another pro, you can say, is that kpop fans are much more frequently updated and CRAZIER about their artists than the majority of foreign jpop fans - which can be a good thing or a bad thing. From what I have observed, this is most likely due to the fact that k-artists and actors are always on TV/magazine news and blogs … there is always some sort of interesting gossip, shows, songs, and news to sink your teeth into and keep you hooked on their music AND their life. (While with most of my fav japanese artists, I hardly get to see their off-stage personalities…its usually for promotions when they appear on shows so I never had this sort of attachment to them).
Anyways…I think you can hopefully expect for higher participation from fans for kpop artists simply because the news will spread much faster, hopefully within your article’s time period…depending on who you get to interview. The forums are crazy these days with kpop. And I really do think the hallyu has finally reached the rest of the world!

Latest update is that the downloads for the book version is nearing the 500,000 mark. As for response by the guys, avex has been busy with their 20th anniversary project that it’s been difficult to get any information. But will ask them again (or remind them) when I contact them next.

I hope so too but because it’s taking this long, this tells me that their A&R at rhythm zone probably puts it very low on their priority I suppose. But I do know that avex is very pleased with the numbers but just getting the official answer hasn’t been easy.
