[OFF-THE-HOOK] For the Momoi Halko fans

March 25, 2007 by Dennis Amith

For the Momoi Halko fans, I will be adding a review of her latest CD+DVD single “The 21st Century” and will also be posting a review for the live DVD complete Box to the current article soon.

We will be interviewing Momoi Halko, so if you have any questions you would like us to ask her, please post it in the comments or e-mail us.

With that being said, I’m watching the Momoi Halko “momo-i UP DATE Tour IN Shibuya O-EAST” and it’s been a long time since I watched a concert where the guys in unison would scream.  I would have to say that it’s been over a decade and the last time I saw this type of screaming in Unison was with an old concert for Sakai Noriko.

These guys are singing and screaming in unison and synchronized light stick moments.

For those of  you who are into the idol singer stuff like this and have been part of the audience, how did you learn your audience choreography.  Is there like instructions online or youtube presentations?  Or is there like some hidden screen?

Anyway, if you are a fan of her music, you’ll like it.  It’s full of energy and the audience are like hardcore into it.   I’m like watching the audience’s faces and some guys are like headbanging and are very hardcore.  Wow!

They make instructions on how to do it.

Paranda probably knows more about it than I do though.

And I probably have questions for the interview but can’t think of any at the moment… Will e-mail later. Although the question that is still on my mind is what is up with Momoi and the US that was mentioned before? I’m hoping that will be answered soon…

ZOMG jealousy! I get the DVD box in two days. I’ve never been to Momoi’s concert, but based on a few others I have been to, there is a dude or prompter in the beginning who tells you what you need to know, how to read the instructions, and points out where to look for cues.

Although most of it is sheer memorization from being at so many events, or so I’m told in the case of Momoi concerts.

    Meanwhile, questions!

What do you think of the huge rise of anime fandom overseas? Do you think it is a good way to introduce Japanese culture to foreigners?
Any message for all of your fans overseas?

What is your favorite store in Akihabara?

Who are your favorite fellow seiyuu and musicians at this time? Who do you consider your closest rivals in the industry?

Why do you think moe has become so popular, and do you think the trend is good or bad for the image of the industry?

Is your new direction after UNDER17 is more true to yourself, or do they equally represent you in different ways?

Do you think you will ever go back to a band, or do you enjoy being a solo artist more.

Poyoyon Rock (Akio Watanabe) seems to be a big fan of yours (and even drew your DVD box art). Care to elaborate on that? Komugi is based on you isn’t it? Did you have any input into creating the personality of that character?

You have written songs for so many artists and even acted as DJ for Perfume. Have you considered starting a label and/or producing for other artists?

What address should fans be using to send you mail?

How likely will you be performing in the US in the near future?

Wow! Thanks guys! As for the US, (biting my tongue) I wish I can say but you’ll find out soon. :)

What’s the best present you ever got from a fan? What is the weirdest?

As a fan yourself, what person in the anime industry that you have met were you the most star struck about talking to?

You have done a lot of songs for anime and game series with lyrics based on the scenario of the series, but what song(s) would you consider to be the most personal to you?

What was your very first live performance experience like?

Do you have any input on the design of your outfits for live performances? What are your favorite outfits so far?

If you could choose any anime character to play in a remake of a favorite series, what would your dream role be?

How did you meet Masaya Koike, and what was your first project with him?

(Is someone gonna be able to ask her these questions? I’d love to get the answer to this question, which I regret not being able to ask during her panel at AX.)

In Nurse Witch Komugi, we see Komugi giving autographs to many fans, some of whom are very eccentric. Can you tell us about some shocking experiences you’ve had with your fans?

(I hope this would sound polite after being translated, I’m not sure what the translation would turn eccentric into…maybe there’s a better way of putting it?)
