Greetings everyone,
I will use this thread on J!-ENT for anyone who has questions in regards to the Avex World Auditions that they needed relayed to our contact for the auditions. Please post on the comments section below and I will post the response on this posting.
Q: AGE LIMIT (WHAT IF I’M OVER 24 OR JUST TURNED 25 A FEW DAYS OF WHEN THE AUDITION TAKES PLACE)
ANSWER: I’ve received quite a few e-mails in regards to the Avex World Auditions and a number of them is in regards to age. As some of you know, there is an age limit and you must be between 13 to 24. Some of you are 24 going on 25 and wonder if that means you can’t participate.
Our contact for the Star Search wanted to let everyone know that: The age range for avex star search (U.S.) is from 13 to 24. All the applicants MUST be between 13 to 24 years old.
Those who participate and are over the age of 24 will be disqualified. If there are any other questions you may want us to relay to our contact in regards to the audition, please let me know.
(New York, NY) avex group, one of the world’s largest independent entertainment companies, has announced the launch of avex star search, the U.S. portion of the avex 20th anniversary avex world audition 2008. avex is seeking talented, U.S-based, male and female musical artists of all racial backgrounds, aged 13-24, interested in becoming a performer and recording artist in Asia.
Potential applicants must first sign up online at www.avexstarsearch.com using the audition application form. All accepted applicants will be notified via e-mail about audition requirements, locations, specific requirements and times. Not all applicants will be accepted.
Selected talent will be invited to sign a contract with avex group and embark on a career as a performer in Asia. All applicants must be able to temporarily or permanently relocate to Japan. As skill levels and age will vary among selected talent, contract terms will be set on a case by case basis. Selected talent may also be invited –at the expense of Avex– to attend the avex Artist Academy, where they will receive additional vocal, dance, acting, language and modeling training, refining their skills at one of two state-of–the-art avex facilities.
avex group will be holding auditions for avex star search in the 3 U.S cities this Fall, although other cities and states with significant numbers of applicants will be considered for separate auditions.
The current audition schedule is: San Francisco, CA – October 25th and 26th, Los Angeles, CA – November 8th and 9th and New York, NY – November 15th and 16th

I’m not sure if this is the box to leave a comment on this page or to email you directly but I had a question: how do they go about informing the ones who sent in 2 applications? I sent in a second application because I wore a hat in my first one and according to the world audition site that constitutes as a disqualification (wearing hats, shades, etc). I’m trying to get an invite for NY, and would like any info on that subject. Thank you!!

Here is an answer to your question from avex:
A: In your case, avex star search will go over your application with your second picture. Due to the limited time avex star search will have at each venue, avex star search will select applicants and those who are
selected will get invitations. To be fair for all the applicants and participants of this audition, avex star search does not notify how we select applicants. Lastly, thank you for your participation!!!

i just found the site through googling, so forgive me if i ask or say anything wrong.
I’ve been emailing avex but they haven’t respond back to me for awhile now, approximately 3 weeks, I guess they’ve been busy; But my questions were, I passed the first part (the web part) and made it to the NY audition, but due to the fact I live far from NY, that I can’t make it.
Do you know if they’ll allow me to send in a video/audio audition? and if yes, which email do i send it too?
Also would the song need to be sang full or 30-60 sec? Should I include a 2nd talent too?
I dont know if theyll answer this one but how long do they expect to be giving out invites to NY? Like have they sent all invites to NY out and how should those who didnt get accepted, but live in America, send in their audition?

sorry to sound rushing, but i’m just worry cos the audition is next weekend and thats all that avex is doing in the U.S. afterwards.

Greetings back2basic, video or audio auditions via e-mail are not allowed. They emphasized “Due to the limited time avex star search will have at each venue, avex star search will select applicants and those who are selected will get invitations.”

i received an invitation already from them to go to NYC to audition, BUT i can’t make it there, so i would like to send in a video audition, and i was really hoping they would at least let, considering i did past the 1st part…
anyhow is that a NO to video audition even when i already received an invitation??
Hi back2basic, I think it’s best to assume like the majority of auditions for a major label, they want to see you live in person and how you would do, performing in front of judges.
There are far too many people auditioning, so I think as the time nears for the NY auditions, not sure if I’m going to hear back from them anytime soon. But if you did get the invitation, that’s pretty good. But I know there are people who are traveling as far as Hawaii to be part of these auditions and I understand if it’s not possible for you, especially if its a very long distance.

I think I’m going to audition for the World Audition, although I live in the U.S.
because they allow auditioners to audition sending in url video,
i’ll just be positive and hope they don’t disqualify me for auditioning for the World one.

I was wondering that, if I just signed up last friday, when could I expect an invitation, if I get in?
I live in NY
and I signed up for the NY auditions..
I just want to know whether or not I didn’t get in, or just if I have to wait a little longer

For those who are selected, they will send an invitation. I’m not totally sure how many people they have selected but if you sent your’s in on November 7th, there is a chance since the actual auditions are not until Nov. 15th.
i signed up on friday too as well
and i havent heard anything from avex
im guessing i should just give up on that?
Hi, I auditioned and wanted to ask are the dates for when they will announce the winners? The guy mentioned January or February right? Also, if you are selected, are they sending you to Japan for schooling or do you have to audition a few more times? Thank you for your time!
Hi, I want to audition for AVEX but just found out yesterday. Is it too late to still fill out an application?
I filled out an application on Nov. 27 but i didnt have time to make a self introduction video along with a video previewing my dancing and singing . I know it was required but will my application be looked at even without the video? Please let me know if u can!!
Hi Jia, I think it may have been too late. The final audition was on November 16th for the New York auditions.

So, if one hasn’t received any contact at all are they to assume that they didn’t make it through? Or is Avex still deciding those who advance to the second round?

Hey!!! I heard there’s another audition coming this year. Is that true??? Anyhow, I still have a question to ask. I’m a student right now, would I be able to continue my study if I got accept to the program??? Thanks you ^^
I’m not sure but I do know that as of a month and half ago, I was told they were still going through the auditions. So, there may be other people who auditioned last year that may still have a chance.
