Jero performs at the University of Pittsburgh

August 28, 2008 by Dennis Amith

Enka singer Jero (Jerome White, Jr., 26) performed at his alma mater, the University of Pittsburgh on Wednesday in front of an audience of 500.

Sporting his hip-hop look and a Pittsburgh Pirates hat, Jero returned to his college where he graduated with a degree in Information Science back in 2003.

Jero has credited his grandmother, Takiko, for teaching him enka at a young age.  The artist moved to Japan where he entered and won several enka auditions and was eventually scouted and received a record deal.

Jero was greeted by fellow students who were amazed by his performance and even joined by friends who took part as background dancers for his performance.

The performance was done as a request by the University.
