[JAPAN] Spin off movie on “DEATH NOTE” live film to be released in 2008

It was announced that a spin off on the successful “DEATH NOTE” live film will focus on the character L played by Matsuyama Kenichi.  The film is supervised by RING director Nakata Hideo and will have a 2008 release date.

“DEATH NOTE” is a film based on a popular manga by Tsugumi Ooba.  The film is about “DEATH NOTES”, a killing device used by Shinigamis when a name is written on a death note, that person will die. A high school student named Light finds the death note and is used by him to kill of criminals.  But when many criminals start dying, government wants to know who is behind it and the the only person to find out who is committing the murders is a master detective and mysterious person named L.
