[HK] Edison Chen Scandal Update: TWINS Gillian Chung makes first appearance since scandal

February 11, 2008 by KNDY

CRIEnglish.com reported, “Gillian Chung, one of several prominent Hong Kong stars caught up in a nude photo scandal, Monday apologized for the incident that has sparked arrests and a media frenzy.”

“Chung, 27, previously known for her squeaky-clean image, made her eagerly awaited statement before a mass of reporters and video cameras flanked by Charlene Choi, her singing partner in the female pop duo Twins.”

“I admit that I was naive and very silly, but I’ve grown up now,” Chung said, without explicitly saying she was in the photos.”

Some people think she is so brave but also some people think she is very fake. What do you think? Do you stand by Gillian Chung? I saw there is a poll about this issue for people to vote after watching the video.

Personally, I think it is soon over.

Why is everyone blaming everything on Edison? Believe me, I am no where close to being an Edison fan but putting the entire blame on him is just plain wrong! I don’t think it’s ANY ONE’s fault. First of all, these girls CHOSE to sleep with him and they CHOSE to have these photos. That was their “PERSONAL” life. Why do they need ANYONE’s consent to make love to one another? He did NOT intent to have these pictures exploited and publicized. Unfortunately they fell in the hands of an evil individual. I really hope everyone would give Edison a break! As far as Gillian, I’m glad she stood up and spoke out. I see nothing wrong with her making love with the man loved (at that time). Everyone should grow up and just move on from this nonsense.

Donald: I actually stand by Gillian in the fact that she loved someone at the time, did something private and personal with that person and unfortunately, those private moments are now out there. I am not upset that she didn’t take on the photos in the press conference. Because frankly, the press conference was for TWINS and the questioning were probably something that had to be contained and something she was probably not even prepared for and I see her company just doing damage control but I side with Gillian in not saying anything because despite the photos and not addressing it, I think she can move past things. As for Edison though… it’s unfortunate.

VJ: I think that there are several type of blame games we are seeing The fans of the female artists enraged, people who think his video apology was just not well-planned. Personally, I worry a little for Edison because a) No matter what… I think his back is a target and HK entertainment and the things that go behind-the-scenes over there, he is more safe to be in the US right now and possibly lucky he left. The women that were exposed were not low-end actresses, they are big name, with big ties to major entertainment agencies. And some agencies who may want to take care of matters the HK way. b) Because of one mistake (of not deleting his personal files), his career will take a major hit.

But I don’t blame him for the photos. I seen them and it’s easy to say that he has a fetish of taking photos of his ex’s giving him a BJ but other than that, these are personal and private photos between two consenting people. There is always a risk and I’m sure some are aware of what happens in the US overseas. Now, Asia is aware that this could happen in their backyard. But there is nothing to blame him for but common sense on private files and taking them to a repair shop.
