Tour to coincide with new album set for release on March 31st
Keith Urban, one of country music’s most electric and critically hailed live performers, will hit the road again in 2009 with supporting acts including Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Dierks Bentley, Glen Campbell, Lady Antebellum, and The Zac Brown Band. The upcoming tour, which will kick off in May, comes following the release of his as yet untitled, 5th studio recording. The singer, who wowed fans and critics on his “Love, Pain & the whole crazy World Tour” during 2007-2008, is ready to deliver another pulse pounding NEW concert experience. Tickets will go on sale early next year for the tour that will kick off in May and likely extend through the summer.
“We intend to give people their money’s worth, for sure” said Urban. “We’re looking forward to seeing fans’ reactions to the new material, and we’re seeing how we can put a few new twists on some older material. We’ll play for as long as the venues will let us.”
Critics have lauded Keith as “one of the best reasons in the world to attend a live concert” and have been quoted as saying that “fans would be hard-pressed to find a much better country — or rock — show anywhere.”
Keith recently released a new single, Sweet Thing, which has been one of the top selling Country songs on iTunes since its release. His live concert DVD, Love, Pain & the whole crazy World Tour, is currently available exclusively at all Wal-Mart stores.

THESE ARE POWERS ANNOUNCE NEW RELEASE ALL ABOARD FUTURE CD AND VINYL OUT FEBRUARY 17 ON DEAD OCEANS |
November 24, 2008 by Dennis Amith · Leave a Comment
2009 will be known as the Year of the Rat - or some similar shit like that - but one of the more important details of the fledgling year is the release of These Are Powers All Aboard Future out February 17 on Dead Oceans Records. Dangerous and unpredictable in a live setting, the Brooklyn / Chicago trio of Pat Noecker (ex Liars), Anna Barie and Bill Salas have crafted an exotic hybrid of electro-acoustic beats, subsonic bass rumble, mangled guitars and plaintive call and response vocals on All Aboard Future. Showing solidarity with the visual arts community These Are Powers invited no fewer than 13 artists from New York to Beijing to create the album’s artwork. Vicious dance music for the universal peace movement of the future? Here it is. Track listing and more info below.

A-TRAK LAUNCHES NEW BLOG |
November 24, 2008 by J!-ENT · Leave a Comment
Quintessential globetrotting DJ and Fool’s Gold head honcho A-Trak has undeniably made his mark in the blogosphere. He launched djatrak.com as he embarked on his first world tour with Kanye West and since then, his travel diaries have become the stuff of legends. Chalk that up to his quirky, wide-eyed writing style combined with the extraordinary nature of his anecdotes. Remember the crazy trip to Nigeria? The picture with OJ Simpson? And the sold-out DJ tours in between? Over the years, we’ve also witnessed A-Trak grow into of a bona fide style icon and influence Kanye in his forays into streetwear, electronic music and dare we say, bloggingŠ
More recently, A-Trak has been posting on the Fool’s Gold blog, writing weekly travel narratives for TheFader.com and contributing to the new Colette site. He even started a hugely popular and slightly absurd series of hotel reviews on YouTube. Now in an effort to centralize his tentacular web presence, A-Trak is re-launching a brand new version of djatrak.com. This site will feature the travel journals, YouTube clips and brain farts you’ve grown to expect from him, as well as some new music, fashion, design and philosophical tidbits. He’s even kept an archive of every post he’s ever made over the last four years.
To celebrate the rebirth of djatrak.com, A-Trak is giving away 5 pairs of the extremely limited Fool’s Gold Nike Air Max sneaker. Details and pictures can be found - you guessed it - on the blog.

DIGITAL VIDEO+AUDIO RELEASE AVAILABLE NOVEMBER 25th
DVD+CD TO FOLLOW DECEMBER 9th ON ATLANTIC RECORDS
Renowned French electronic duo Justice will be releasing their acclaimed live album and tour documentary A Cross The Universe through an exclusive iTunes world premiere November 25th. Coinciding with the international release date, this will also mark the first time that iTunes has offered long form music video, not to mention video being bundled with an audio release. Following the digital release, Atlantic Records will make the CD+DVD available December 9th.
Filmed over the course of Justice’s 2nd tour of the United States, the documentary was created by multi-award winning directors Romain Gavras (”Stress”) and So-Me (”D.A.N.C.E.”, “DVNO”). Spending night and day with the group, the filmmakers recorded virtually every second of the tour and cut footage of a three week tour into a feature-length film. Not your typical tour documentary, A Cross The Universe boasts the marvels of Justice’s live show with the CD and captures nearly every state of their existence - a candid document of the extraordinary things that can happen when a bunch of frogs get dropped in dreamy America.

The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus ready sophomore album, ‘Lonely Road’, Feb. 3 |
November 21, 2008 by J!-ENT · Leave a Comment
New release is follow-up to platinum-selling debut, Don’t You Fake It, with new single, You Better Pray out now
NEW YORK, N.Y.—Virgin Records Jacksonville, FL, platinum rockers THE RED JUMPSUIT APPARATUS have completed recording their sophomore album, Lonely Road, at the Valley Village, CA, studio of super-producer Howard Benson (Hoobastank, P.O.D., Less Than Jake, Daughtry, Seether, All-American Rejects), the follow-up to the Don’t You Fake It. Their debut breakthrough was two years in the making, a tribute to the label’s commitment to long-term artist development, and has gone on to sell more than 2.1 million singles and scan over a million copies in the U.S. to date.
The new album, Lonely Road, streets on Feb. 3, 2009, and is preceded digitally by the current hit track, You Better Pray, as well as a fan’s only studio demo for Pen & Paper, available at the band’s RedJumpSuitAlliance.com website, and now on MySpace. To mark the release, RJA will embark on a headlining, international tour, starting Dec. 6 at the 97X Next Big Thing 8 in Tampa, FL, then heading to a number of South East Asian countries in late February and March including Australian dates in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
“We’re really psyched about these tracks and the new record and hope you are, too,” proclaims lead vocalist Ronnie Winter on the band’s MySpace page. “Just like Don’t You Fake It, you can be sure Lonely Roadwill tie together these and a bunch of other sounds in a classic, but new-and-improved RJA-sounding way.”
Consisting of Winter, guitarist/pianist/singer Duke Kitchens, bass/singer Joey Westwood and drummer/singer Jon Wilkes, RJA connected immediately with listeners on their first single, “Face Down,” a plea against domestic violence that introduced a band with a commitment to social issues, not just in their music, but in their day-to-day lives.
Don’t You Fake It charted for 62 weeks on Billboard’s Top 200 while Face Down stayed atop the Top 20 Modern Rock airplay list for 52 weeks before being retired. Face Down earned the band platinum status by selling 1.5 million digital singles and has been streamed over 16.6 million times on MySpace. Songs from the first album have been streamed more than 50 million times on the band’s MySpace page, along with such favourites as Your Guardian Angel, which generated 10.2 million MySpace spins and 455k downloads, as well as marking the festive occasions of thousands of Facebook and YouTube photo flipbooks and videos. Two other songs from their debut, Damn Regret and False Pretense, are both at almost 100,000 downloads apiece.
Since the release of Don’t You Fake It, RJA has also been an active force for a wide array of charitable organizations and social causes, including teen suicide prevention (including co-headlining the US Take Action Tour with My Chemical Romance and Rise Against), mental health parity and a strong commitment to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, teaming up with their label Virgin Records, to raise funds.
In addition, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus Guardian Angel Foundation has been formed as an umbrella group to support under-funded high school band programs, to promote and enhance student musical development; support individuals affected by domestic violence, to break the cycle of abuse; and contribute to research that focuses on management of acute hyperglycemia in hospitalized patients.
“We’re looking forward to finally getting the new record out and once again hitting the road,” writes Winter on the band’s MySpace blog. “And as you’ll soon hear, it was all worth it.”

P.O.S. TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM NEVER BETTER FEBRUARY 3RD ON RHYMESAYERS |
November 21, 2008 by J!-ENT · Leave a Comment
P.O.S. returns with Never Better, February 3rd on Rhymesayers. It’s the follow-up to 2006’s critically acclaimed Audition. Most of P.O.S’ new album was written in a moving car. On it, he raps at full-clip to ride rolling drums and revving distortion. There’s an urgency that he keeps in careful check, and then unleashes for spring-loaded verses that represent his best work. P.O.S built his reputation as an innovator, with an unlikely punk rock past and expressive, honest content. He re-earns the accolades with every release. His records capture his charisma-they’re driving and sincere, the dark moments counterbalanced by some giggling banter with the engineer. On Never Better, the new disc, he conjures get-away cars, racing chariots, the pursuit of sirens, and the occasional rueful nighttime drive.
P.O.S. himself made more than half of the beats on Never Better, and the production bears his unmistakable signature. The album enters a room like bombshell with a black eye-badass, noisy, impossible to ignore. Feedback and relentless drum rolls are only occasionally tempered by sung choruses and clean, chiming guitar lines. Some critics will be eager to categorize the album as a hybrid-some kind of crossover project. But it’s probably not. P.O.S is a rapper with range, he’s a real musician and an unstoppable performer. For him, genres are as they ever were: permeable.
The packaging for P.O.S’s new album Never Better is a one of a kind four panel transparent plastic Digipak that holds 16 solid and 6 Transparent inserts. The solid inserts have artwork on the front and lyrics/credits on the back. The Transparent inserts have artwork that when placed over the various solid cards, enhance and change the look of the art underneath, hundreds of combinations are possible. Look for P.O.S. to embark on a headlining tour for the month of February and he will stay on the road through the summer, where he’s confirmed for the entire Vans Warped Tour.
P.O.S.’s two plus years on the road in support of Audition proved that no genre can contain him. He’s just as comfortable performing in front of punk and rock crowds as he is with his ever growing loyal hip hop fan base. On different tours, he went out with Atmosphere, Minus the Bear, Gym Class Heroes and Underoath plus did 50+ dates on the Vans Warped Tour. Audition made it up to #13 on the CMJ Radio Top 200 and was #1 on the Hip Hop chart for three weeks. The video for his single “Bleeding Hearts Club (MPLS Chapter)” received heavy rotation on MTVu and also on MTV2’s Subterranean.

Katy Perry’s the ‘one’ - Hot N Cold is No.1 in Top 40 radio play |
November 19, 2008 by J!-ENT · Leave a Comment
Breakthrough new artist to perform One Of The Boys album in 50-city 2009 world tour
NEW YORK, NY November 18, 2008 – This years best new artist keeps breaking through. Capitol Records’ own Katy Perry adds another milestone to her already remarkable career, as the high-voltage smash Hot N Cold becomes her second No. 1-charted hit, reflecting national play in America’s Top 40 radio format. The platinum-selling One Of The Boys rebounded into the Top 25 of the national Billboard Top 200 album chart five months after its release, thanks to the massive radio play of Katy’s second consecutive chart-topper. The song is also No. 1 in Canada and Australia and in the Top 15 in the UK, Finland, Holland and New Zealand.
Katy begins her first worldwide headline tour in early 2009, starting January 23rd in Seattle, WA, and closing in her hometown of Santa Barbara, CA in May, with stops in 50 cities. Tickets are currently on sale.
Katy’s debut single, I Kissed a Girl, was her first international No. 1 hit. Its seven-week run at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 equaled the Capitol Records label record previously set by The Beatles’ I Wanna Hold Your Hand. The song was the 1,000th American No. 1 hit of the rock era, surpassing 2 million domestic paid downloads, and now approaching 6 million in global single sales. In addition, the song was No. 1 nationally in 15 countries, including the U.K., Canada, Germany, Sweden, and Australia as well as a No. 1 iTunes download in over a dozen countries, and a No. 1 airplay smash in 20 territories.
One Of The Boys made its debut at No. 9 on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart, and No. 4 on the Top Digital Album chart, on July 5, 2008. The album track fan favorite Thinking of You is being prepared for single release in December.

Global no.1 breakthrough new artist headlining 50 cities January through May 2009
NEW YORK, NY November 10, 2008 – The undisputed ruling “It Girl” of 2008, Capitol Records breakthrough artist KATY PERRY, will take her act on the road in early 2009, in her first international headline tour in the wake of the global success of her debut album, One Of The Boys. Tickets will go on sale November 14/15.
Katy is playing in a variety of large clubs and small theatres. Her itinerary will take her to the stages of such classic venues as The Fillmore in San Francisco, Irving Plaza in New York City, The Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles, The Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, Canada and The Elyseé Montmartre in Paris, France, hitting fifty cities around the world between the tour’s Jan. 23rd kick-off in Seattle, and an early May wrap-up show in her Santa Barbara hometown. Joining Katy on the road will be Alphabeat on all North American dates and Warped Tour alumni 3 OH 3! for all European dates.
Currently, Katy’s second single, the irrepressible Hot N Cold, is her second international hit: aside from Top 10 entries in the US, Australia, Canada (where it claims the No. 1 slot) and the U.K, it is a bulleted Top 5 smash on Billboard’s Hot 100 pop chart, and No. 1 most listened to record on American Top 40. The video has become the No. 2 most viewed video premiere of all time on MySpace and the track’s U.S. radio success has sent the RIAA gold-certified One Of The Boys bulleting back into the Top 20 of the national Billboard Top 200 album chart, in its fifth month of release.
Katy is fresh off of a scene-stealing performance at the MTV Latin America “Los Premios Awards,” and hosting and performing at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Liverpool where she picked up the award for “Best New Act”. Previously, Katy spent two solid months on Stateside tour with Vans Warped Tour in the summer of 2008 – a scene described by one Midwestern reviewer as comparable to the running of the bulls in Pamplona “…minus the bulls, or the quaint Basque scenery” marking her as a solid live performer.
Meanwhile, Katy’s career displayed the same unstoppable forward momentum, as her first single, “I Kissed a Girl,” took up an astonishing seven-week residency at No. 1, equaling a Capitol label record set by The Beatles. The song was the 1,000th American No. 1 hit of the rock era, amassing over 2 million domestic paid downloads, and now approaching 6 million in global single sales. In addition, the song was No. 1 nationally in 15 countries, including the U.K., Canada, Germany, Sweden, and Australia as well as a No. 1 iTunes download in over a dozen countries, and a No. 1 airplay smash in 20 territories.
Along the way, as ONE OF THE BOYS made its Top 10 Billboard album chart debut, critics and fans alike commented on the cultural zeitgeist so effortlessly captured by Katy in her songs and video clips, including the underground Youtube and Myspace smash, Ur So Gay, and the five times MTV Video Music Award nominee I Kissed a Girl.

MR OIZO TO RELEASE LONG AWAITED THIRD ALBUM ON ED BANGER RECORDS |
November 7, 2008 by Dennis Amith · Leave a Comment
LAMB’S ANGER OUT JANUARY 26th IN NORTH AMERICA
French auteur Quentin Dupieux, aka Mr. Oizo (pronounced Wah-zoh), will once again revive the critically acclaimed moniker for his third full-length effort on Ed Banger Records this January. Best known to stateside audiences for his 1999 hit “Flat Beat” - an instantly recognizable club track famous for its wobbling synth bassline and its equally infamous video featuring the head-nodding puppet Flat Eric, Mr. Oizo consistently delivers the unexpected.
Lamb’s Anger, an 17 track experimental opus full of proto-electro, sample cut-ups, and full on club anthems is the product of Mr. Oizo’s eccentric style meeting the new French oligarchy of Ed Banger Records. In 2006, Quentin met the crew and produced some of their signature efforts - Uffie’s “Ready To Uff” and “Hot Chick”, not to mention his own EP, Transexual, released in 2007. His unique style of production and unmatched wit make Lamb’s Anger his most advanced release to date, one that surely will influence electronic music for years to come.

CHROMEO ON CONAN O’BRIEN PERFORMING MOMMA’S BOY WITH AN 8 PIECE STRING SECTION THIS FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 7th |
November 7, 2008 by Dennis Amith · Leave a Comment
AT THE mtvU WOODIE AWARDS
PLAYING THEIR REMIX LIVE WITH VAMPIRE WEEKEND
Heralded duo Chromeo will not refrain from using the airwaves of North American television to advance their agenda of lustrous synth-funk. Dave 1 and P-Thugg will appear Friday, November 7 on NBC’s Late Night with Conan O’Brien performing a special unplugged (or as they like to call it unthugged) version of Momma’s Boy with the added compliment of an eight piece string section (on NBC 12:35/11:35 central).
The following Wednesday, November 12th, Chromeo will take the stage with Vampire Weekend at Roseland Ballroom in New York City to perform their remix of The Kids Don’t Stand a Chance, live at the 2008 mtvU Woodie Awards- the definitive college music awards. College students across the country nominated Chromeo for a Left Field Woodie Award, aka, most original artist award. The mtvU Woodie Awards premiere November 19th at 8pm ET on mtvU and mtvU.com. MTV, MTV2 and MTV News will also broadcast highlights from the show.
The main reason why Vice Records electro pop masterminds continue to give to their followers: because it feels so damn good.
