Mainichi Daily News reported, “A female duo dressed as characters from Hayao Miyazaki’s animated film “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind” qualified to represent Japan in the upcoming “World Cosplay Summit 2008″ after winning the Tokyo qualifying round on Sunday.”
“The duo Hasse, consisting of members Kikiwan and Naoki Shigure, whose real names weren’t given, performed a famous scene from Nausicaa’s resurrection of the film at the qualifying round in Tokyo Dome City, in which five teams competed.”
“We’re happy with this result because previously we didn’t win anything when we did cosplays from another Miyazaki animation,” Kikiwan said.
The duo, who took second place at last year’s World Cosplay Summit with costumes inspired by the blockbuster manga series “Death Note,” are determined to do better in the world championship this year. “We weren’t satisfied with our performance at the last summit, so we’ll try and do better this year.”

After seeing one awesome Misa Misa cosplayer from Japan, I decided to see what other ladies have done in Japan ala Misa Misa or other Death Note cosplay. The following images are linked from the Japanese cosplayers websites. Among the many I have seen (outside of the one I posted earlier), these are my other favorites.

How sweet! Holding a little doll of the shinagami
