[BIZARRE][CHINA] Man swallows diamond ring after marriage rejection

CRIEnglish.com reports that a man upset that his girlfriend refused to marry him swallowed the diamond ring he bought for her.

According to the article, “For the special occasion, the man surnamed Xiao had prepared a sumptuous home-cooked dinner, decorated his apartment with roses and purchased a 3,000 yuan (US$396) diamond ring on Tuesday.”

“However, things didn’t go to plan. He told the newspaper that when he proposed, his girlfriend, surnamed Xue, said it was “too soon.” She also said her parents didn’t like him and would not allow her to marry a man with a six-year-old daughter from a previous marriage, Xiao said in the report.”
