Tokyo Broadcasting System suing ABC for “Wipeout” gameshow

Japantoday.com reported, “Tokyo Broadcasting System Inc said Tuesday it has sued its U.S. peer ABC, claiming that this summer’s ABC obstacle course program “Wipeout” is a copycat of TBS TV programs, including “Takeshi’s Castle.” In a suit filed with the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, the major Japanese TV broadcaster is seeking an injunction ordering ABC not to air the “Wipeout” series anymore and demanding that ABC pay damages over the alleged infringement of TBS copyrights to “Takeshi’s Castle” and other programs.”
