Rock duo MONORAL’s new album “Via” and upcoming Latin America tour

November 5, 2008 by rabi

VAMPROSE artist and multi-cultural rock duo MONORAL has just released their latest album “Via” on October 29, 2008 in Japan and digitally on iTunes around the world.  Also in the works is a Latin American tour to be held in Mexico, Brazil, Chile, and Argentina later this year in November and December, according to their official MySpace blog.

Born in London to a Japanese father and a Moroccan mother, vocalist Anis grew up listening to ’80s rock, performing in clubs in Paris, where he lived.  Bassist Ali, who grew up living in Japan, was born to an American father and a Japanese mother, who is a singer herself.  While visiting Japan one year, Anis met Ali at MTV Japan, and having found out that they shared similar interest in music, the duo started MONORAL in 1999.

In 2006, MONORAL wrote the song “kiri”, the opening theme of the anime series Ergo Proxy, with its ending theme by Radiohead. In 2007, they released their second album “Turbulence” and held their first nationwide tour in Japan.

Their new album “Via” consists of eleven ethnically diverse tracks of all-English lyrics, as in all their previous releases, including the 2008 singles “Casbah” and “Safira”.

MONORAL’s music can be downloaded on Apple iTunes Store around the world.  More information on the upcoming Latin American tour will be announced in the near future.

Please stay tuned for a J!-ENT interview and album review, coming later this November.
