Noriko Sakai wants to divorce husband and study nursing

Disgraced actress Noriko Sakai expressed her will to restart her life during her drugs trial that opened at the Tokyo District Court on Monday, citing her intention to get a divorce and to study nursing care in the future.

“I was exhausted physically and mentally because I was so busy,” said Sakai, 38, who is charged with violating the Stimulants Control Law, as she explained the background of her drug use.

“I have a tendency to try too hard to live up to others’ expectations of me. I thought (stimulants) would help me move my body. … I used the drugs of my own will. … I am the one to blame,” a tearful Sakai repeated.

Clad in a black suit and with her hair tied back, Sakai appeared at the first hearing of her trial with a nervous look on her face. She told the court she was “unemployed” when asked about her occupation.
