[JAPAN][ANIME] Hirano Aya wins Best Lead Actress for 2008 Seiyu Awards

The Daily Yomiuri reported, “The best voice actor and best voice actress prizes at the 2008 Seiyu Awards for voice acting went to performers in their 20s, while three industry veterans in their 70s were honored with achievement awards. The announcements were made at a ceremony in Tokyo on Saturday.”"Voice actress Aya Hirano, 20, who won the Best Newcomer Award at last year’s Seiyu Awards, followed up on that achievement by winning this year’s best leading actress award.”

“The Seiyu Awards were established in 2006, the 50th anniversary of the first foreign movies being televised in Japan.”

“Hirano is known for her leading roles in the anime Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu (Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi) and Rakisuta (Lucky Star).”
