[DVD News] Deal of the Week: Gamestop Buy 2, get 4 DVD’s free! |
June 30, 2008 by Dennis Amith · Leave a Comment
Hi everyone,
For anime or DVD (and I think even Blu-Ray/HD collectors), the current promotion for Gamestop is buy 2, get 3 DVD’s for free.
I was told that Gamestop is liquidating their DVD’s and will now have a Buy 2, Get 4 DVD’s for free sale starting on July 1st.
A lot of the anime are used (and I’ve learned they have some of used ones as new in the back, so you may want to ask the manager or employee). But still, you can get DVD boxsets and other DVD’s pretty cheap with this sale!
Have fun!

Since reviewing the Shinkai Makoto film “5 CENTIMETERS PER SECOND”, the film has really left a long impression within me. Of course, for many people, there has been that time where one has liked/loved someone but things worked out much differently than expected.
But if anything, may it be a Japanese drama or an anime, there have been only a few instances where a song really makes a deep impact and just tugs in your heart and just realizing how awesome the song is and how it really made the moment of that series or film.
I remember hearing “True Love” and how the song was used in the drama “Asunaro Hakusho” or even “Love Story wa Totsuzen ni” for Tokyo Love Story and most recently “One More Time, One More Chance” by Yamazaki Masayoshi.
Anyway, here are youtube videos for those nostalgic for those series moments.
5 CENTIMETERS, PER SECOND (One More Time, One More Chance by Yamazaki Masayoshi)
TOKYO LOVE STORY (”Love Story wa Totsuzen ni” by Oda Kazumasa)
Asunaro Hakusho (”True Love” by Fujii Fumiya)
Aishiteiru to itte Kure (LOVE LOVE LOVE by Dreams Come True)
Beautiful Life (Konya Tsuki no Mieru Oka ni by B’z)
LOVE GENERATION (Shiawase na Ketsumatsu by Eiichi Otaki)

[YouTube] Fan-created video Picks of the Day |

Last week, our favorite mystery guitarist known as 17586063 released another video on YouTube and even though we are still split of whether this person is indeed a woman or guy, still awesome guitar playing. After seeing the clip at 1:58 of the side view, some of those who said “it’s a guy” has now switched to “woman”. Who knows…but enjoy this person playing “jet to jet” by Alcatrazz
In other videos, Magibon has returned with new videos. Is Magibon wanting to have a staring contest ala Jessica Alba with the viewers? Magibon-chan (MRiriam), how about a shout out by two quick blinks. Hehe… It’s interesting to see how many people get ticked by the lack of vocals but nevertheless 578,521 viewers… that’s a lot!
And a new post by Mydodolook showing us her cute side again!
I just love her videos…

[BOOK REVIEW] Japanese Monster Survival Guide |
June 30, 2008 by Dennis Amith · Leave a Comment
Japantoday.com Kevin McGue wrote, “Let’s do a quick rundown of your Japan-related bookshelf. “Japanese for Busy People?” Check. “Making Out in Japanese?” Check. “Tokyo for Free?” “Lonely Planet Japan?” Check and check.”
“So you think you have everything you need to survive in Japan, do you? Well, would you know what to do if you were walking down a dark Tokyo alley and encountered a “kuchisake onna,” a machete-wielding woman wearing a surgical mask to hide a deformed mouth stretching from ear to ear? What if a weekend jaunt to the countryside brought you face to face with a “kappa,” a cute but ferocious river goblin known for disemboweling humans? What would you do if a giant and very dirty foot smashed through the ceiling of your apartment while you are watching TV?”
“This new “survival guide” by husband and wife team Hiroko Yoda and Matt Alt gives you tips on how to get through such hairy scraps with your life and all your vital organs intact. In case you were wondering, the above encounters, respectively, can be survived by throwing some “bekko ame” (a hard candy), by bowing deeply to the “kappa,” and washing the foot so it will go away.”
