Iijima had announced her retirement last month from the entertainment world citing health problems with her kidney. Iijima who is set to retire on March 31st said that it’s impossible for her to continue in the entertainment industry with the health problems and it is not because of the rumors that she will be going overseas to study or live.
Through her entertainment agency Watanabe Entertainment , it was mentioned that if her health is better, there is a chance for a return.

In a recent article on JapanToday.com, the Shukan Post looks into how the Kano sisters acquired their wealth.
In the Shukan Post article, “It has been just over a month since Kyoko Kano, 45, reported to police that her real sister Harue went missing with 400 million yen worth of items, including a 300-million yen diamond. The sisters’ feud is most likely to be settled in court, but the case has got many people wondering how Kyoko earned the “gorgeous life” that she lives.”"In an interview in the April 5-12 edition of the weekly magazine “Josei Seven,” Kyoko says that she has had several patrons in the past.”

The top entertainment stories from Mainichi this past week was Hirosue Ryoko’s commercial and Kago Ai’s firing from her agency.
According to Mainichi Shimbun, “Japanese actress Ryoko Hirosue starred in the top-ranked entertainment article on the MSN-Mainichi Interactive site during the week between March 23 and 29, with an article on her appearance in a new drink commercial.”
“News on the actress was followed by an article on former Morning Musume star Ai Kago, and her agency’s decision to sack her for smoking.”

[JAPAN] Musicians set world’s longest concert Guinness Book of World Records |

Around 900 Musicians have set the world longest concert (182 hours) for the Guinness Book of World Records including braving last week’s earthquake according to Mainichi Shimbun.
According to Mainichi, “More than 900 musicians aged 6 to 89 took turns performing in the 9-day marathon — with breaks of no more than 5 minutes between acts — at a small railway station in Hikone city in western Japan, according to organizer Kuniko Teramura.”

Another café will be opening in Akihabara and it’s not a maid café. This time, female waitresses dress up in men’s butler uniforms.

It’s a sister café of popular maid café Pinafore in Akihabara and called Check Mate.
According to Daily Mainichi, “Akihabara’s first full-scale “butler cafe,” whose female waitresses dress up in men’s butler uniforms, is hoping to make an impression as it opens its doors to the public on April 1.”

[KOREA] Harvard government students meet Korean pop star RAIN |

Students of Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government took a trip to Korea and had the opportunity to meet Korea’s biggest pop star RAIN.
According to Chosun, “Some 60 students of Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government stomp and whistle, while several shout in Korean, “I love you!” and “You are gorgeous!” They are responding to the image of their hero, the workaholic Korean superstar, on the screen. A shot of the singer’s six-pack prompts some female students to sigh, “Oh, my god.” All of them laugh. Twenty minutes later Rain, in a beige jacket and jeans, appears on the podium and the room erupts in a blizzard of flashlights.”

According to an article on CRIEnglish.com, a Sino-South Korean being developed will feature John Woo directing and actor Tom Cruise and S. Korean actress Jeon Ji-hyun together.
According to the article, “Hangzhou-based Youth Times reported on Friday that renowned Hong Kong director John Woo would direct this project with no released English name. The lead actor and actress for the project were named as Hollywood star Tom Cruise and South Korean actress Jeon Ji-hyun.”

CRIEnglish.com reports that the film “EXILED” rights have been sold for a remake in the US.
According to the article, “Hollywood is planning a remake of the Hong Kong gangster drama “Exiled”, cashing in on the success of “The Departed”, the Oscar-winning US version of another Hong Kong hit, a report said Friday. Media Asia has sold the rights for “Exiled” — director Johnnie To’s thriller set in Hong Kong and Macau — to Samuel Hadida, the producer of the 2006 horror flick “Silent Hill”, the South China Morning post reported.”

[CHINA] Update on Andy Lau’s crazy fan |

It was widely reported in HK about an obsessed Andy Lau fan who quit school so she can watch Andy Lau videos every day. Her parents who didn’t make much money sold their apartment to fund their daughters obsession to meet Andy Lau and only until recently when a fan club allowed to bring the daughter to make her dream come true and meet Lau, which happened on Sunday. A few hours later, the family who had no place to sleep but in a restaurant met tragedy as the father killed himself and asked for the Chinese government to take care of his family.
Press has now labeled her the crazy fan and she is now in the news because she refuses to bring her father’s ashes back home because she says his last wish is for her to meet Andy Lau again.
According to CRIEnglish.com, “Yang says she doesn’t plan to take her father’s ashes home with her. She claims her only hope is to meet Lau again to realize her father’s “final will”.”
“Andy Lau’s agency told the media they offered to assist and comfort Yang Lijuan and her mother after the father’s suicide, but they won’t satisfy her perverse demands.”
