Dennis A. Amith interviews Mia Crowe - Page 3 (2002)

Continued from Page 2

DENNIS: You have a younger brother, I'm guessing your brother had to put up with all his buddies wanting to date you right?
MIA: My brother had to deal with it....(laughing). If any guy has a sister, many guys would want to know his sister right?

DENNIS: You studied martial arts. You learned Kung Fu San Soo. Would you like to be like a Michelle Yeoh and kick ass on screen?
MIA: Of course I would. Who wouldn't? Not because I'm Asian but because I would like to be a female action hero.

DENNIS: Have you ever hurt anyone with your kung fu before?
MIA: Oh no....in class maybe, on accident but no.

DENNIS: Have you ever kicked someone in the nuts?
MIA: Oh yeah, but that has nothing to do with my Kung Fu training. I remember in college, someone said something derogatory to me and I kicked him in the nuts and threw my beer on his face.

Mia and friend at a show in Los Angeles.

DENNIS: Leaving that painful topic behind, let's move on. I read that you have a Howard Stern type of sense of humor. Hmm… Does that mean you have a perverted mind, eh Mia?
MIA: I definitely have a "different" sense of humor than would be expected from just looking at me! I watch his show on E! and listen to Howard Stern on the radio every morning too and I laugh constantly! I was raised with no sisters and a little brother and that is where my sense of humor developed.

DENNIS: What do you do like to do whenever you have free time, aside from shopping, sleeping and hanging out with friends?
MIA:
I don't like shopping. I really don't enjoy shopping. Sometimes on my freetime I play a lot of video games. I own a lot of video games. I was just playing "Resident Evil 2" but I'm so upset because I was playing for two hours and forgot to save. But aside from video games, I read a lot of books especially sci-fi. I'm hardcore into sci-fi like sci-fi books and movies, especially the bad ones. I'm such a big fan of the old school Star Trek.

DENNIS: Are you a good cook?
MIA: No, I'm terrible.

DENNIS: So, if a special friend came over...would you cook or go out to dinner?
MIA: I only know how to make seven things but if my friends came over, I don't really cook.

DENNIS: But I'm sure you make the best peanut butter and jelly sandwiches right?
MIA: I do. I make ramen noodles very well. (laughing) I'm not joking, I'm serious. I also make adobo chicken. I love Filipino food like adobo, pancit and lumpia.

DENNIS: What else do you like to eat?
MIA: I'm always craving for Korean food. There are three things I love to eat. Sushi, Mexican food and Korean food.

DENNIS: In your life, what are your turn offs?
MIA: I don't like people who are closed minded. Like, I don't like it when people say that they can never eat sushi but then they say that have never tried it. How narrow minded! If they tried it, then it's cool but if they haven't tried it, I think that's a bit strange. But I don't like people who limit themselves like that.

DENNIS: That's why, for those people who won't try it, we tell them to try the wasabi instead and tell them it's actually green tea ice cream.
MIA: My dad did that the first time I tried wasabi. He told me to eat the whole thing, it's really good and I ate the whole thing up.

DENNIS: What are your turn ons in life?
MIA: I love people who follow their dreams and do anything. Last night, I went to an opening of a store and I met several fashion designers. Fashion designers in a sense of normal people who had ideas for clothes they wanted to wear and started making them in their own living room. Now they are selling them at this fabulous store called YELLOW on La Brea in Hollywood. That is a turn on and extremely inspiring! They did everything in their living room and they started cutting and putting shirts together and now they are selling them. They wanted to do it and now they did it. I think that's really cool to meet people who are going to do it and they do it. I think that's so inspiring. I love meeting people who will do anything like that. I met someone who liked candles and he made candles in his garage and now they have a multi-million dollar candle company. I like people who aren't afraid to be different.

DENNIS: Let's do a little word play, I'll ask you a few words and you give me the Mia Crowe definition to the words:

MIA:

a. LOVE-people on your team who stand by you unconditionally
b. HAPPINESS - A full stomach, family, sun shining down on me as I lay on the beach and listen to the waves
c. SUCCESS - Making an effort to follow your heart and do whatever it is God put you on this earth to do. Whether it is drive a bus to get kids safely to school everyday, be a teacher, be a great hairstylist or be an actor on television! Self0fulfillment is success. So is being rich and anonymous! I'm kidding.
d. KRISPY KREME - Dinner two nights in a row last week-2 dozen donuts shared between me and a friend each night! Fresh and hot! Melt in your mouth!
e. BRITNEY SPEARS - A tease. A pedophiles dream. A manufactured pop commodity but somebody who made her dream come true and didn't let any lack of talent or beauty stand in her way.
f. SEX - A beautiful act between two people (or more!) who love each other (or at least think they are in love.

DENNIS: What do you see yourself doing ten years from now.
MIA:
I see myself as a wife and a mom. Perhaps if I have something that I want to do like producing, writing or owning a store, I don't know.

DENNIS: What final words do you have for your fans?
MIA:
I encourage everyone to follow their dreams. Nothing should hold you back. Life is way too short. Do what you want to do. Go for it!
