Synopsis:
A
breathtaking epic set in 19th-century China from award-winning
director Ang Lee (The Wdding Banquet, Sense and Sensibility),
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dargon combines high-flying action and
stunning visual effects with a classic story of unrequited love.
International superstars Chow Yun-fat (Anna and the King) and
Michelle Yeoh (Tomorrow Never dies) give their greatest performances
ever as two legendary warriors whose lifeling pursuits for justice
and honor preformances ever as two legendary warriors whose
lifelong pursuits for justice and honor prevent them from acting
on their personal longings. The film tracks the lives of three
proud fighters each trying to deal with their true inner emotions:
the brave warrior who is unable to declare his true love; the
woman fighter whose calm demeanor belies the inner turmoil of
her yearning; and the young female artist.

DVD REVIEW:
The US version of this
DVD will be released soon. The version I am reviewing is one of
the first official releases in Asia that is more or less the same
as the US but is region 3 encoded. Note: You will
need an all region player to play a region 3 DVD.
"Crouching Tiger,
Hidden Dragon" is a fantastic movie. It was like watching
theater because of the fantasy and the beautiful fighting that
was choreographed very well.
Without getting into
the movie, the DVD is beautiful with no artifacts in the darkest
of parts. The audio is also superb and the music comes alive
in the DVD version.
The special features
on this DVD is the featurette with Michelle Yeoh, director's commentary,
the two Coco Lee music videos and more. Oh, and also believe
it or not, this version comes with an English dubbed track for
those who can't stand subtitles.
This is a must-see DVD
and movie for fans of martial arts and Chinese mythology.
Excellent movie and DVD! I heard the US domestic release
will have even more special features! Can't wait!!!
