DVD REVIEW:
Watching this movie
reminds me of Japanese animation.
The movie is about two
gamblers. One is trying to be the best in Hong Kong while
the other was the best. At the same time, the story of the
best gambler is Cool. Cool lossed against his friend turned
enemy who then took his girlfriend and messed her up tremendously
(ie..she's a vegetable).
If not taken
seriously, the movie might prove to be enjoyable with moronic
humor which I enjoy.
One example is Jersey
showing off his tattoos during a gambling competition. The other
sports hard core tattoos on one arm, while Jersey sports a tattoo
of Hello Kitty, Pikachu and Doraemon.
The fight scenes
between Nick Cheung's "Jersey" character is reminiscent
of modern day "Fist of the Northstar" while Louis Koo's
"Cool" character reminiscent of the X-Men's Gambit.
The beautiful Christy
Chung is in this movie and plays Jersey's girlfriend who speaks in
English, French and Cantonese.
Unfortunately, the
humor may flow over the head of people who haven't watch much HK
films and also the acting is mean to be moronic such as Nick
Cheung's laugh.
There are a lot of
interesting moments in this film but again, if you can get passed
the moronic humor, you may enjoy it.
