DVD REVIEW:

I have to admit that I couldn't wait to see this anime because of the first Tekkaman Blade. I figure it would be different since it took place 10 years after but what the TV series did, the 6 episode OAV series seems a bit incomplete.

The anime focuses on Yumi Francois, a person who dreams of becoming a Tekkaman and it happens. Similar to many other anime such as "Gunbuster", Yumi is the person who has to prove to the others that she is worthy of the job even though she's quite clumsy. Her inspiration to be a Tekkaman was meeting Blade when she was young and that is why she wants to be a Tekkaman.

The other characters are somewhat interesting but it would take more episodes to get to know each person. The OAV series focus on Yumi in the first half and David in the second half. You learn a little about the other Tekkaman's but not enough. Also, Blade's part in this anime is quite small.

So, for an anime to focus so much on Yumi and then suddenly that focus is on David, the anime seemed as it took a big jump in the arc. I don't know if there were more OAV episodes or a TV series on TBII but for a complete collection, this anime DVD seems a bit incomplete.

As for the DVD, we are treated to a fan art gallery of the TBII characters and many Urban Vision trailers.

Granted that the humor and the mechs will entertain you, the characters are quite fun to follow and the transformation nudity will attrack otaku fanboys but all in all, this OAV could have been better.
