DVD REVIEW:
I
first saw "SAILOR VICTORY" back in the mid-90's. What
many people don't know is that this DVD is actually OAV 3-4 of
the GRADUATION SERIES. I guess you can say "SAILOR VICTORY"
is one of those alternate universes of the GRADUATION series.
Similar to what they have done with the "Tenchi Muyou"
and "El Hazard" series.
It's
also an anime series based on a dating/graduating school simulation
video game (a "Graduation" game was released in America
via PC).
Anyway,
it kind of sucks that people will be watching this and not knowing
it's a "GRADUATION" anime. People might think this was
some major series trying to copy Sailor Moon and other mecha anime
(which it probably does) but this OAV is just a special alternate
setting for the girls of "GRADUATION".
Hopefully
Media Blasters or some company releases the previous two OAV's
(ep. 1-2). When I first saw the anime series, the OAV 3-4 (SAILOR
VICTORY) was just a bonus OAV for the "Graduation" anime
series fans because of how the series ended in OAV series 2 and
how the girls graduated and went on their separate ways.
Anyway,
as for special features...none. The original Japanese series had
commercials for the OAV series and video games and soundtrack
I believe...but not on this DVD.
Anyway,
on it's own...and people not knowing the series behind these two
OAV's, you will find those who will compare it to "Sailor
Moon" and say it's rather inferior or some who may like it
due to it's different style and inclusion of mecha.
