Anime
Synopsis:
Party-girl Ayaka Kisaragi turned her late-night
lifestyle into a business that gives new meaning to the term
“graveyard shift!” While it may seem easier for Ayaka to round
up troublesome spirits than to put a corporate spin on her own
free-wheeling habits, she calls upon a powerful but quirky cadre
of cabalists to solve each case with flair and style. Too bad
style doesn’t pay the bills! No matter the terrors the dark
can bring, Ayaka will be sure they get a kiss good-night from
Phantom Quest, Corp – if she can wake up in time!

DVD REVIEW:
Ahh... I remember when
Yuugen Kaishya first came out on LaserDisc. I bought this baby
and was so happy to get two episodes (compared to one back in
the old days) for around $35.
Now, almost a decade
later the anime series is released ala perfect collection with
all four episodes on one DVD for $13.99. You can't beat that!
This series came out
at the same time and almost similar to the Ghosbusting, humorus
anime - Ghost Sweeper Mikami. Both are about a strong woman, a
business that's trying to make money and interesting characters
that help Kisaragi Ayaka out.
As for DVD extras there
is a textless opening but that's about it. The difference with
the DVD version and the LD version is that the LD version had
some explanatory segments that are no longer there. Not sure why
Pioneer opted to remove them.
Also, there is a secret
hidden 22 minute video.
All in all, It's a fun
anime to watch and by no means is it spectacular but it is fun
and enjoyable.
