DVD REVIEW:
When I first saw this
movie, I was literally blown away. An anime movie with a
Hitchcock flair to it. I would never expect an anime with
this type of brilliant storyline. It was unexpected and I'm
glad I watched it.
The movie is about a
JPOP star named Mima Kiragoe of the pop idol trio known as CHAM.
She quits the group to pursue an acting career but murders
revolving people close to her start happening and Mima starts to
go through paranoia. What is real? What is not?
The DVD is beautiful
and vibrant. Too bad it's not anamorphic though. I'm
so happy to find a Japanese 5.1 track along with the English 5.1
track. So, you get the best of both worlds with this DVD.
As for special
features, you get a lot. It doesn't seem like it from the
menu but you get the seiyuu actresses singing the Japanese CHAM
song, you get interviews with the Japanese cast and English
cast. Also, if you own a DVD-Rom, you will be treated with
even more extras with screensavers, wallpaper and an actual
software program.
What really made me
enjoy this anime series is how interesting it was coming from a
fan perspective of Japanese idol music. Many women choose to
go the route and do what Mima did and although not the same
storyline, some make similar choices as she did. It's truly
a trip!
This is a thrilling
anime unlike many of the anime I have seen in my lifetime.
It's a thriller and fans of Alfred Hitchcock will love this
movie. A definite must-see.
