DVD REVIEW:
This marks the end of
the ride for the Evangelion series and the "End of Evangelion"
is one of those anime that makes you want to think more and more
about what you saw and one of those films that will either make
you feel content with how things end or really piss you off.
When I first saw this
film, I have to admit that I was a bit pissed off. I felt the
character of Shinji to be the ultimate coward but to see what
happens to the characters we grown fond of throughout the series...oh
my!
A few years since I
saw the film, now on this glorious DVD which looks great, sounds
great (with the variety of audio options) and reading others interpretations
of this film on the Internet, I pretty much learned to respect
this film because each segment was created to make the viewer
think deeply and that is where you have to see this film.
As for the DVD itself,
although "Rebirth" was an awesome quality DVD filled
with extras, "End" doesn't have as much but still offers
quite a bit such as commentary for those who enjoy the English
dub voice acting. Really interesting commentary!
All in all, "End
of Evangelion" is a beautiful DVD and the visuals and the
audio will definitely is a big plus for the film but it all depends
on the viewer's experience of watching it and what they get out
of it, if it will be a pleasurable viewing experience or not.
For me, it took several
viewings and also reading interpretations to understand this film
to really enjoy it. I recommend this DVD for Evangelion fans!
