Anime Synopsis:

When Goku dies of a mysterious virus, it seems like the end of the world. But the powerful Master's passing proves to be merely a presage of the horrible tragedies that are on the way. When two androids appear and start destroying the great cities of the Earth, the planet is plunged into darkness and its inhabitants are living in fear. But there's one last hope: Goku's son, Gohan, and a special teenager named Trunks.

DVD REVIEW:

I saw this special when it came out in Japan and after that I became a hardcore DBZ fan ever since.  This special sets up the Future Trunks storyline and when he comes to present time DBZ....watch out!

After seeing that this special came out in the DVD in the US, I just had to buy it for sentimental reasons.

Anyway, this special (not sure how they aired it in the US...as a tv episode or what) is about the future in the DBZ Universe.  Goku has died of a heart condition and the Androids 17 & 18 are creating havoc and killing off humans.  The only Z warriors that are left are Gohan and Trunks.  What will happen when these warriors take on the androids?  You have to watch!!!

As for the DBZ DVD.  This is my first.  First, I was expecting worse because 1) It's from a anime TV show 2) It's most likely going to be mono 3) It's known that the Japanese studios do not take care of old footage but I was very pleased with the results and the colors are very nice, although you can tell that this is from TV.

As for special features, you get four commercials and a 20 minute "World of DBZ" featurette which takes you from Dragon Ball to the point of Future Trunks coming to the past.

Now I may consider buying the DBZ DVD series now!

I have never watched the DBZ shows in the US but I'm glad that people can get to enjoy the anime that people loved in Japan.
