Tsubasa wo Kudasai (Please give me your wings)

WHAT IS "Tsubasa wo Kudasai" ALL ABOUT?:  Kawabe Toko (Uchida) is a girl with some problems. Aband-oned by her parents when she was born, Toko was raised on Amamioshima Island y her aunt. She doesn't know what a real family is supposed to be like. Since she was small, shecouldn't show people (even those who were understanding)her true feelings.Two years ago, Toko was scouted by Sawaki Hiroshi (Sato) who promised her that she could make it in the entertainment world.

Before graduating from High school, Toko goes to Tokyo to find Sawaki who works for Geino Productions Co. To her dismay, she finds that the current Sawaki has changed from two years ago. Accumulating some large debts, Sawaki tells her that he plans to quit the geino business. Toko's childhood friend Atuya (Sorimachi) goes to a college in Tokyo and is a member of the school's rugby team. He is two years older than Toko and thinks of her as a sister. Toko's love for him is one sided. Without meeting Atuya in Tokyo, Toko returns home to Amamioshima. Several days later, Toko sends Sawaki a note written on the back of his old business card saying that if there is anything she can help with, just ask. When Sawaki reads the note, he begins to feel that his dreams could be realized (by Toko). So he goes to Amamioshima to visit her............ It opens two years ago on a rugby field in Amamioshima. Atuya (Sorimachi Takashi) fails to get the winning try for his team. They end up with second place. He gives Toko (Uchida Yuki) his medal. Two years later, Toko goes to see Sawaki (sato Koichi)who runs his own geino productions office SAWAKI OFFICE. He has changed. He has accumulated some debts and plans to quit the geino business. Toko asks him to help her. He does just a little, by dropping her off at an audition. That night after the audition, she bumps into Atuya (she wasn't planning to meet him ) who got the tip from Sawaki that Toko would be at the audition. She stays the night at Atuya's place. The next day she goes back to Amamioshima. At the airport, she accidently bumps into Yoshimura (Kurodo Maki) . Nothing is said, but we are sure they will meet up again. Toko goes back to Amamioshima where she meets her aunt's new husband, who will have nothing to do with Toko. He wants her to be out of their lives. Toko paints for Sawaki a message on the back of all of his old business cards. The cards are arranged like a jigsaw puzzle and the finished result is a poster. Two years ago when Tokowas scouted by Sawaki on Amamioshima, Sawaki took Toko to a set on the beach to see a promotional poster shoot. The poster Toko painted looked like that promotional poster. Sawaki remembers their conversation there and flies to Amamioshima to take Toko back to Tokyo. Sawaki feels his life as a geino manager can be rebuilt with the help of Toko. I felt this drama had a little potential but that potential turned into a dud..  I just didn't think Uchida was good in this drama.   Even by looking at their press photo (above), they don't look too happy.-KNDY
