Summer Snow

In the family entertainment department, Summer Snow starts the same evening on TBS at 9 p.m. This heartwarming scenario stars Tsuyoshi Domoto of the Kinki Kids. After his parents die he has his hands full running the family bicycle repair shop and caring for a younger brother and sister with problems, but still finds time to fall in love with an office worker with a heart condition.

She is played by Ryoko Hirosue, on summer vacation from Waseda University, no doubt.  Summer Snow (Friday at 9 p.m. on TBS) star Tsuyoshi Domoto is challenging Tsuyoshi Kusanagi for this season's saintly nice guy award. Barely in his 20s himself, he is raising a younger sister and hearing-impaired brother and running his late parents' bicycle repair shop while falling in love with a bank clerk (Ryoko Hirosue), who is suffering from a heart condition. This one should do well in the ratings although it is not outstanding.

[Kiku TV synopsis]: A love story between a young man who has been forced to grow up too quickly, and a young woman with an ailment that has placed restrictions on her life. Natsuo (Domoto Tsuyoshi) has been looking after his younger brother and sister since the death of their parents. He has also been running the family bicycle shop. Yuki (Hirosue Ryoko) becomes the only person in the world in whom he can confide. For Yuki, Natsuo becomes the catalyst that has her trying to break out of her cocoon.

REVIEWS:

I started watching and I stopped.  I know that the duo of Domoto and Hirosue might be great and I should keep watching but I thought the story was going to be too predictable.  Well, the good news is that the person who I thought was going to die, didn't...but the bad news is someone does die and it's so sad.  The ending is so depressing that even the final happy moments are not enough to make you smile.  A good drama but very depressing.

From Romana:  I am so glad to read such a positive review of "Summer Snow"!  The song "Natsu no Ousama" is a very powerful song both the lyrics and the meaning from the show.  He placed a lot of himself into this dorama and everyone could tell that he was working very hard to do his best for this that it shows. Both he and Koichi are very hard working people! ^^
