Senna , 24 (Kimura) is a college graduate who dreams of becoming a world class pianist. He teaches piano at a local piano school. Minami , 31 (Yamaguchi ) is an out of work model. On her wedding day, she gets dumped by her fiance, and loses all of her savings, which she gave to her fiance.

Her fiance turns out to be Senna's former roommate. She rushes to Senna's apartment and finds out that her fiance has skipped town. With no money, and no where to go she moves in with Senna. Senna likes Ryoko (Matsu) who is a sophomore in college. He likes her a lot but just doesn't have the courage to ask her out. Koishikawa (Inamori) is Minami's best friend and is also a model. She provides much of the comedic relief in this show. Shinji ( Takenouchi) is Minami's younger brother who just happens to be better than Senna at piano. He opens a bar/nite club. Rumiko (Ryou) plays Shinji's girlfriend. Sasaki (Morimoto) is Senna's professor at college and is always encouraging Senna to perform at the next piano competition. long vacation is about sena hidetoshi (kimura takuya), a pianist who can't express his feelings, and minami (yamaguchi tomoko), a model who isn't really popular. sena and minami meet on the day that sena's roommate and minami are supposed to marry. minami rushes into sena's apartment with her wedding clothes on, and later finds out that the roommate ran away with another chick. and later, minami's brother, shinji (takenouchi yutaka), and his girlfriend (ryo) move into the same town as them. . . and the story (plot) get complicated after sena asks ryouko-chan (matsu takako) out and then 'animal shinji' falls in love with her, and then minami finds a guy who likes her, and sena finds out that he likes minami, and then sena loses his will to continue playing the piano, and then decides to play again, and etc. . . good story. . . i almost cried at the end. . . hee hee hee, there are no scenes to cry at the end though. . . =)

REVIEWS:

Perhaps the coolest, trendiest Japanese drama ever made!   A must see and the music is great too!  A highly recommended drama!-KNDY

After I have seen this drama, I just can't help to fall in love with it. In addition, after I listened the soundtrack, I just find so many beautiful melodies and lysics(the words are really touching). Mabel from Hong Kong

My wife and I went to the video store and rented the first episode of Long Vacation. I was generally against it because I have seen thousands of Japanese dramas and I generally felt that they were always overacted. Then I watched Long Vacation. Big Suprise!!!. With the exception of one or two actresses, this was a superbly conceived and acted drama with (even bigger suprise) a happy ending. I never really got into mens groups like SMAP or Hikaru Genji so I was even more distressed when I heard a SMAP member was starring. I was wrong again. Kimura Takuya delivered a top notch performance! Sign this guy up for Hollywood! I was already impressed by Yamaguchi Tomoko from earlier rolls. I think she's a natural. Now I also feel the same about Kimura Takuya as well. - Mike Murphy

I used to play piano, but I stop for awhile. After I watched Long Vacation, I start practicing again. I think this drama is clever and keeps the audience interested every minute.-Victor

I am so glad that fuji came out with a drama like this. So many times we are caught up with our school degrees, our careers, our problems that we forget that we are human...we are not just "hito" but "ningen"....I think sometimes we get so caught up in the pressures of society that we forget to fall in love! The reason I think so many people liked this drama was the fact that everyone can relate...not just Japanese....sometimes we need to take our own Long Vacation...and fall in love....maware maware meri~go~ roundo mou keshite tomaranai you ni ugokidashita merodi La La La La~~~ La Love Song!!!!!!!!! p.s. kennedy this is such a great page!-Aya

I love Long Vacation. There are many touching scenes. And I think the most unforgettable one occurs in episode 9. When Sena saw Minami playing the song, even intermittently, he hardly uttered a word. Standing still beside the door, Sena was deeply moved! Both Tomoko and Kimura acted very very good! Actually, so did the other actors! Besides, the songs in LV are melodious! Of course, the soundtrack is my precious collection! -Rita

I like Long Vacation very much, it's my favourite Japanese Drama, and the soundtrack is good too. Actually, when I've first heard from my friend about LV, I was not interesting with it, just because I don't like Takuya Kimura, however, my friend highly recommend it to me, so I tried to watch it. To my suprised, when I started to watch it, I just can't stop, I used only 2 days to finish the whole series, it's so touching. Now, I'm not only fan of Long Vacation, I'm also fan of Takuya Kimura, he is so charming and I was impressed by his great performance. I'm now watching Love Generation, it's still playing in Japan every Monday, fortunately, I can buy VCD in Hong Kong on Thursday (just later than Japan for 3 days), and as fan of Long Vacation, I still think Long Vacation is the best! After watching the first episode, I was just like addicted, I watched the last 4 episodes at one night! I really appreciate the effort you given to this page and I love the MIDI of the songs. I bought the soundtrack for LV and LG at once after watching the drama.

I feel kind of strange but i know i have loved the drama already. Damn, it's out 2 years ago.....i feel kind of "out-dated" for watching it now. Actually i loved watching Japanese Drama long time ago but i just do not have chance to watch a whole complete drama. I'm not japanese, so each time i have to watch through the television with English or Chinese translation. To me, LV means a lot. After i watched it, i feel so "awkward" and sad cuz i really want to have such "situation" as the actor does. But in reality, everything is different. THe real life is boring and nothing special. That's why i love watching movies and drama, it gives us a dream and a memorial thought.(if that movie is good) I don't know i just love the actress so much. she is about my aunt's age but i still love her. Yeah, they are rite, God always give us the long vocation at anytime and in anyplace. We should enjoy it.....but i know it's hard. Those romantic scenes in LV are actually possible in real life, but i don't think it would happen to me. Ryo from SF-98

I must admit that I was skeptic about how this drama would turn out when I borrowed it from my friend, but from the moment I saw the opening I was stuck there watching continously for 4 and half hour and finally went to sleep only because I had to go to school tomorrow. Actually I've heard Long Vacation a long time ago but I was ill prejudiced towards all soap and dramas thus didn't try it out earlier(how dumb of me) however I finally tried it out due to the overwhelming recommendation I received from my friend, and from then onwards I've become a Japanese Drama addict. The story in Long Vacation is the best I've seen in my life and the excellent acting all contributes to this fantastic all-time classic! Long Vacation had such a big impact on my view towards life that I started doing better at school! The opening theme song is also a blast and I've been listening it non-stop after I finished watching Long Vacation. Now I heartely recommend LV to all my friends and even though a sequel is not quite possible (don't try to fix something that's not broken, a bad sequel might ruin its reputation), a similar drama released near the future will definitely be nice! Well thanks for this 1st class page!-ARC-Taiwanese currently living in NZ
