Konya, Uchu no Katasumi De (Tonight, at a place in the cosmos)

Naoko Iijima also made a bad career choice in accepting the lead in "Konya Uchu no Katasumi de," (Summer 1998, Thursdays at 10 p.m. on the Fuji network).   Even Iijima and the New York setting were not enough to make this one attractive.

The Fuji TV love story, "Konya, Uchu no Katasumi de" (Tonight, at a Place in the Cosmos, July 9, 10 p.m.), is written by popular screenwriter Koki Mitani. The drama is set in New York, where a Japanese beautician (Naoko Iijima) is courted by two men (Masahiko Nishimura and Takaaki Ishibashi).

I wasn't expecting much from this drama but it was actually pretty interesting. And the guy who wrote the story is the same guy who wrote "Furuhata Ninzaburo". Nishimura Masahiko was funny as usual and he and Ishibashi Takaaki were a good duo, comedy wise. As always, Iijima Naoko was gorgeous. This drama is definitely worth seeing. [By Shuji]
