Jinbe (My Son's Lover)

"Jinbe" features Masakazu Tamura, as an academic who specializes in whales, Takako Matsu, basically playing herself, and SMAP's Tsuyoshi Kusanagi as a zealous graduate student.
Tamura and Takako star as a father and daughter who are not biologically related. Only the competent cast is keeping this whale above water.

The series also features Tsuyoshi Kusanagi of SMAP and Reiko Takashima as Prof. Tamura's assistants.

REVIEWS:

I find Jinbei really upsetting.  First, you get the impression of Jinbe (Tamura) as a step-father who cares about his step-daughter (Matsu).   Second, you notice that these Jinbei wants more from his step-daughter and that's where the drama really is messed up.  It's very disfunctional and the step-daughter is always crying or running away and you wonder why.  It's because the father you think is your real father, who isn't, cares for you...and cares for you more than step-daughter.  You kiss your step-father. What the hell?  Anyways, this story is something that would come from a old man who has his own warped fantasy.  As for Kusanagi Tsuyoshi, perhaps the only bright character in this drama. - KNDY
