Itoshi Kimi e (To the one I love)

[Excerpt from Daily Yomiuri, April 28, Wm. Penn]: Itoshi Kimi e (Mondays at 9 p.m. on the Fuji TV network) stars Naohito Fujiki as Shunsuke, a photographer with an illness that is gradually robbing him of his sight. Miho Kanno plays Shiki, an intern in a pediatrics ward who went to college with Shunsuke's younger brother, who died all alone in a Tokyo hospital.

Shiki travels to Nagasaki for the funeral and misconstrues the gossipy
chatter of the watermelon-slurping guests at the wake. She thinks Shunsuke
specializes in nude photo shoots for weekly magazines and scolds him when he
fidgets with his cell phone and trys to get her to go out for a "katsudon"
pork cutlet dinner instead of participating in the solemn floating of a
lantern down the river in the deceased's honor.

By the end of episode one, she learns he is really a photographer of some
repute. On his cell phone, he is constantly replaying a message from his
sick brother, who longed to get together for one last katsudon dinner. The
reunion never took place.

Well, you guessed it. Shiki and Shunsuke eventually set off to have the
dinner instead. They are becoming friends but there are plenty of
complications: He has a fiancee, she is facing the heart-wrenching work of
dealing with terminally ill children and she has yet to figure out why she
keeps running into Shunsuke at the hospital.

At least two stars for this one, and keep an eye out for the katsudon--it is
likely to make a symbolic, telling return guest appearance.

[FUJI TV Synopsis]: What if the one you love were destined to lose his eyesight in three months?

What would you like him to see last?

If you were him, what would you want to see last?

Shiki Tomokawa is a new pediatrician who is enjoying her life. She falls in love with Shunsuke, a cameraman, who is destined to lose his eyesight in a couple of months. How will Shiki react when she finds out Shunsuke's destiny?

"To the One I Love" takes place in two contrasting cities? In the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, and in the peaceful city of Nagasaki, and depicts both the joys and sadness of life, and the interaction with family and friends.
