Handoku (Half Doctor) Nagase Tomoya, Uchiyama Rina, Sawamura Ikii and more star in this medical drama. Nagase plays a gang member who studies to become a doctor and passes the examination. Another ER-like drama. Half Doctor is a humorous (in a dumb comedy type of way) combined with ER-like situations. The drama is about a slightly unusually rough doctor (played by Nagase Tomoya) aka Ichi who joins three other doctors to work at SMH. An unusual hospital that is ran by a chief who thinks he's God and runs the hospital his own way, using experimental drugs and where doctors are more or less not working the typical doctor shift. In fact, they don't take emergencies and this frustrates Ichi who wants to help people due to the fact that his mother died because hospitals wouldn't take his mother. Ichi is joined by Uchiyama Rina, who plays the level headed nurse who had some unfortunate situations from her past. The doctors currently running the hospital like the casual, hardly work lifestyle but the doctors in training (aka handoku, "Half doctors") want to change things which is to the doctors at the hospital's chagrin. [TBS SYNOPSIS]: As a former gang member, Ichiban was witness to the worst side of the emergency medical system and vowed to become a doctor to change it. With the aggressive passion he learned on the streets, Ichiban has worked his way to becoming a no-nonsense emergency medicine resident. But it is this same passion that he must learn to control when confronted with a situation that is beyond his help STARRING:
Nagase Tomoya, Sawamura Ikii, Ninomiya
Kazunari, Uchiyama Rina At first I thought this drama was going to be quite dumb...in a good kind of way if you are into "dumb comedy" humor, which I tend to enjoy. First off, this drama is not for the ER hardcore fanatics, this is for those who want to kick back and watch an interesting drama. It's not great, it's not stupid. It's pretty much your average drama but quite interesting because of Nagase's character "Ichi". The drama is quite interesting because it plays out in the beginning like a Japanese drama from the early 70's which is Ichi's dream sequence. The storylines are quite interesting, almost manga-like especially with the chief doctor who thinks his God which is reminscent of the bad guys in many anime. Just be prepared for the ending which was unexpected. Can you say "earthquake?". Again, want something to tie you down and want to enjoy and enjoy stupid humor, you may enjoy "handocu"!-KNDY Copyright © 1993-2003
