Cheap Love

A dark romantic story of Yanase Junichi (Sorimachi Takashi), a scoutman (guy who recruits girls for nightclubs), and Kotozuka Nanami (Tsuruta Mayu), a music teacher at a junior high school. Junichi and Nanami, who live in different worlds, meet one day in Tokyo while Junichi was scouting. A story of their relationship as it grows.

[TBS Synopsis] Junichi is a scout recruiting girls for work in night clubs; but in contrast to what he does, he is actually a sentimental person at heart. Nanami, who is a music teacher at a junior high school, wishes that something would happen to change the course of her ordinary life. Being from a high-class family and having committed to an arranged marriage with a government official, she and the street smart Junichi are from two different worlds. Their initial meetings always ended in disdain for the other, but when Junichi helps her find some sheets of music precious to her, she begins to think that he could change her life. Although it goes against everything that her upbringing has taught her, Nanami decides to give him a chance.

REVIEWS:

I have to admit that when watching this I was at first thinking....Sorimachi and Tsuruta...why?  They don't seem like a couple to have great chemistry in a drama but after I found out what this drama is about and how screwed up the characters are, I'm starting to wonder how screwed up this drama is going to get as the episodes pass by.  One scene has Sorimachi's character watching his friend pretty much trying to sexually assault his new lady friend (Tsuruta) while he holds a video camera.  Perhaps the main idea is to cover the underground Japan society...not sure. I watched this drama to the end and it ended with what I expected.  Anyone remember "Wakamono no Subete"?  The final two episodes were very good and just for the ending and the suspense merits a definite watch! - KNDY
